sitronbus (11), British Columbia, Canada Jun 30, 2006 Bottle from Specialty LDB. Golden with aromatic cirus-grapefruit hops. Medium bodied & carbonated. Pleasant grapefruit bitter finish
crazychuck (16), Canada Jul 19, 2008 Had a dry-hopped version of this at a cask fest at central city.
No noticeable nose. Sweet, almost fruity taste yields a mild, dry finish. An unassuming beer that nevertheless surprises you with its subtleties. mgermani (591), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 18, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy dull yellow with a nice egg-white head which lingers as a layer of foam right through to the bottom, and minimal lacing. Aroma is hoppy and dry, and tastes very similar - lots of grapefruit, present alcohol, dry bitter finish. Nice and satisfying but a bit lacking in malt character. Great carbonation, slightly creamy body. Good hoppy beer, I could use a bit more crystal malt in there somewhere but crisp and very drinkable. (Rating #1626) Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 18, 2007 Cloudly gold like a field of wheat. Some lemon citrus and bittering hops with a bit of yeast. A touch of a medicinal note in the flavors. Full bodied with a citrus finish. Glouglouburp (1935), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 8, 2007 In short: A dry and dusty not very flavourful IPA. Ok, no more.
How: 660ml bottle, fresh,
The look: Cloudy golden copper body with a small white head
In long: Weak aroma. Felt rather yeasty by IPA standards. A bit weak on the malt front with a simple basic maltiness without much caramel. Hops flavour is of the orange type. Something in there (yeast?) made the beer feel very dry, borderline dusty. I mostly like dry beer but it wasn’t a good fit in this case. Overall not very flavourful. Long dry and bitter finish. The exact opposite of the other BC IPA I had the night before (Tree Hophead) which was very juicy. No bad but doesn’t rank very high in my book, Old Yale Private First Class IPA.
