3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 PumpkinBurger (45) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 31, 2012dark copper pour with foamy beige head. decent amount of caramel sweetness in the aroma which you def taste at first touch of the tongue, even some brown sugar, molasses... you then get some roasted flavors and some of the sweetness def stays. even with the higher abv you don’t feel like it’s that strong as the dominant sweetness and roasted grain flavors hide any alcoholic taste... nice body but not super heavy feeling either... def an enjoyable drink.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2012
Bottle with cousins on the Vineyard, MA. Pours clear copper-brown with a fine, beige foam head. Mild caramel nose, plenty of toasty sugar. Big sweet flavor, loads of toffee, toasted sugar, brown sugar, rich bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, nicely rounded and smooth caramel and toffee, only very mild alcohol presence, lasting sugary malts. Very smooth beer.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 VTHopHead (1389) - Barre, Vermont, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Bottle/500ml/Swing-top - Pours a dark brownish amber in color with a very small off-white head that fades quickly to a thin rim around the top of the beer. Aroma is sticky sweet with mostly brown sugar, but sugar to be sure. Flavor is WAY sweet and, again the brown sugar. A very unusual/odd flavor in the finish that is not, honestly, all that pleasant. Almost a dry astringency that feels like it steals all of the flavor at the end. Lingering sticky sweetness. I really did not like this and, from the fancy bottle, I definitely expected MUCH more...

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 JCB (3859) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 8, 2011
Mini-swingtop (dark blue bottle) from Amity, Hamden, CT. Unfortunately, this beer wasn’t nearly the measure of the regular brew. I never know how these lil’ swingtops will age, or even if that’s a relevant consideration. But at any rate, something must be responsible for this weak brew. Thin orange-ish pour, with basically no carbonation to speak of. Tart green apple nose with the mildest of malt underpinnings. Watery body, and a rank infected flavor overall. Blech.
