2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A big fucken 40 oz bottle courtesy of The Hoff. Thanks, brohammed. Opened this bad boy up at a tasting. Everyone thought I just brought the regular Olde English Malt Liquor, but they couldn’t have been further from the truth. Everyone seemed to change their tune when I pointed out the fine print on the bottle that revealed this was in fact the 3.2 ABW version. The crowd went silent, the hands came out, waiting for a pour of this elusive elixir. The beer itself looks much like the original: pale golden pour with a foamy white head. Pretty bland, unoffensive aroma. Smells mostly like corn and lemon peels. Maybe some soap, grass, and malt or grain. A bit on the watery side. The flavor is more of the same. Bland, a bit watery, but sweet. Some corn and grain flavors, a bit of lemon, and some soap. A touch of grassy hops, no bitterness, and none of that fusel alcohol that is so prevalent in malt liquors. Overall, this is pretty innocuous, but it’s also pretty low boost. Like with most of these kinds of beers, the ratings on this one are exaggerated downward. This isn’t so bad at all.

From my backlogg:
RBESG 2014 in London, grand tasting. Pale golden beer with almost no head. Strange papery aroma and flavour. Really a thin and watery beer...

1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting 09/08/2014. Vary pale yellow coloured pour, no head. Aroma is pretty nice, honey malts, berry, and some apple. Flavour is composed, is thin mineral, metalic, some thinly veiled caramel. Carbonic acid. Palate is thin watery and horrible. Pretty bad.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
40 from a 7-Eleven in Norman, OK. Gold pour with a tiny head. Very satisfying crack when I break the seal on this bad boy. Candy corn sweets on the nose. Fairly relaxed, suggesting that this is a conquerable beast. The flavor confirms this. Junk wonder bread with some honey and golden apple. Grain husk sweetness. Light, sessionable character. Plenty of fizz. Overall, just weird. It doesn’t taste horrible, but there’s no point to this malt liquor. Low boost rocket fuel.
