the assistant brewer at French Broad told me I had to get to this one, so I did. Defintily a complex barley, three years behind it with age in oak bourbon barrels, that is TLC. Great body and complexity. Was a wonderful beer. I had a Brewgrass so the atmosphere was loud and hot, wish I could try in a cooler quiter environment to really get down on this Barley

Bomber shared by Wilkie! Pours a nice clear ruby amber with a thin head. Aroma is bourbony sweet, with earthy hints, spice, tons of sweet refined malts, caramel and toffee lots of oak and a bit boozy but not overly so. More super refined sweetness in the flavor, but doesnt get overly cloying, the bourbon barrles dry it out a bit- syrupy, molasses, yet clean, and a nice astringent and moderate bitter finihs. Pretty straightforward BA barleywine that wasnt outstanding but nothign bad here.

Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and some hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, spices, alcohol, bourbon, and wood, leading to a dry bourbon finish.
