COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. Our brew master says: 71lbs of high alpha hops were used to make this limited production beer of only 13 barrels. Thatís just over 20 grams of hops used for each pint! DBH was brewed with 2 row barley, Carapils and Crisp Crystal 45 malts and fermented to 7% alc/vol. DBH was hopped with 5 different West Coast hops: Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade. Additionally, DBH was twice dry hopped with different combinations of these hops. The net result is an amazing aroma of ripe juicy fruit mixed in with a bouquet of spring flowers. DBH was brewed to a level of bitterness of 108 IBUís, and leaves a lingering bitterness; it is, after all, a Double IPA!

Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber. Pours a slightly hazy medium orange with a rocky white two finger head. Tons of lacing and amazing head retention. Aroma is full of citrus hops, orange and pineapple. There is also a healthy dose of caramel and biscuit malt that nicely balances out the hops. Quite a pleasant, if not common, aroma. The flavor is a little lighter on the citrus with some pine coming through. Lots of caramel and biscuit paired with a moderate bitterness. A really nice lingering hoppyness combines with a slight stickyness in the finish. Overall, a really good IPA but it is definitely not a IIPA; not sure why is is labeled that here. Nice balance between malt and hops and something I would drink a lot of if it were available locally.

The hop aroma is nice and a little potent. I also smell malts and fruit. I get a lemon scent with pine. Its a great mixture. I taste hops, malts, citrus fruit, and yeast. This is a very good beverage. It is a bitter brew but somehow it doesn?t ruin the flavor. I wish I could say it doesnt impact the palate. I would drink this again. It intrigues me.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange with almost a smaller hear. Aroma is nice sticky tropical fruits hops with some floral aspects and a honey sweetness. Flavor is sweet juicy fruits (mango, pineapple, grapefruit, orange). Not overly sweet, but massively bitter. This is in the top 5ish of all the IPAs Iíve had to date. This was just what an IPA should be. Delicious.

Bomber to oversized snifter. Looks good; a foggy burnt-orange with white lacing. Smells solid; bitter hops and malt. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

From bottle. Pours a clear golden color with an off white, frothy head. I donít get much in the way of aroma, however I can pick up a slightly grassy/resin smell. Taste is very hop forward, I donít get much of the malts but thats how I like them. Very smooth and easy to drink, finishes with a nice hop bitterness.

Golden, white head, muted aroma, sweet with soapy hops. Smooth body. Nothing too impressive here.

22oz bottle, world greatest cap. Pale amber color. Tall, rocky, white froth. Long lacing. Hop floral aroma. Spicy hops, loads of resin & citrus oil, and grapefruit. This is what an American Double IPA should smell like! Sweet caramel malts, toasted grain flavor. Whoa, thatís a lot of hops. Death-by-Hops ainít no joke. Heavy on the bitterness. Deep earthy hop flavor. Finishes with a bitterness similar to biting a grapefruit skin. Resin, citrus, and pine... oh my. (3449)

Strong floral aroma. Citrus flavor that lingers on the tongue for quite some time. This beer would be perfect if it were a bit clearer.
