COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. Our brew master says: 71lbs of high alpha hops were used to make this limited production beer of only 13 barrels. That’s just over 20 grams of hops used for each pint! DBH was brewed with 2 row barley, Carapils and Crisp Crystal 45 malts and fermented to 7% alc/vol. DBH was hopped with 5 different West Coast hops: Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade. Additionally, DBH was twice dry hopped with different combinations of these hops. The net result is an amazing aroma of ripe juicy fruit mixed in with a bouquet of spring flowers. DBH was brewed to a level of bitterness of 108 IBU’s, and leaves a lingering bitterness; it is, after all, a Double IPA!

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange with almost a smaller hear. Aroma is nice sticky tropical fruits hops with some floral aspects and a honey sweetness. Flavor is sweet juicy fruits (mango, pineapple, grapefruit, orange). Not overly sweet, but massively bitter. This is in the top 5ish of all the IPAs I’ve had to date. This was just what an IPA should be. Delicious.

Old rating. Amber colored. Resinous, grassy, and piney hops. Pretty much run of the mill hop bomb.

Bottle. Clear amber color. Heavy clover and honeysuckle floral aroma. Resin, citrus, caramel, butter. Flavor is super hoppy with the Cascade and Centennial hops standing out. Very nice use of hops to get the high IBU’s without sacrificing flavor. This is a very drinkable brew.

Sample at Bad Parenting Club (plus a few dirty aunt/uncles?!): NC Beer Edition on 03/28/2015. This brew is a slightly hazy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes gradually. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of citrus, hops and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of fruity hops, roast malt and a bit of pine. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tan appearance. Very hoppy as the name would imply. White head. Wonderful ipa. Great taste.

Bottle. Resin, citrus, and pine aroma. Bitter citrus and resin taste. Possibly not too fresh, but still good.

Bottle at Paul’s for Andy and Max’s Fantasy Football winnings tasting. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Spicy citrus and even a touch of watermelon, bread. Medium bodied, earthy and spicy citrus, slightly warming alcohol.

Location: Bottle shared at Max and Andy’s Tasting, 2/28/15

Aroma: It has an alright aroma of slightly stale hops and a little caramel
Appearance: The pour is orange with a small beige head
Flavor: Flavor-wise, again, a little stale from a hop perspective, with a caramel sweetness
Palate: Decent mouthfeel, not super dry from a finish perspective
Overall Impression: Not sure how old this bottle was, but the hops tasted a little stale. Would like to rate this again to see if its the bottle or the beer.

Bottle. Cloudy amber-orange pour with a small foamy head that fades to a messy film. Really nice aroma of wet grass, pine, grapefruit, and flowers. Tastes moderately bitter throughout. Lots of pine and wet grass, some citrus mixes in late. Some light cracker malt as well. Medium body. Nice oily mouthfeel. Great IPA.

1/6/15. 22oz bottle. Lightly hazed orange pour with a decent khaki head and mild lacing. Pungent hop aroma, lots of citrus and pine. Bitter flavor, citrus, pine, caramel, maybe even some chocolate, lots of lingering bitterness. Not bad.

Pours from tap a bright hazy amber with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Aroma of a little orange and peach, and a tiny bit of pine, but mostly grapefruit. Flavour of pine resin, grapefruit, earthy and floral hops. The beer left my palate medium bodied and perfect carbonation and a slick, oily mouthfeel that transitions nicely to the dry, bitter finish. Recommend.
