Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. Our brew master says: 71lbs of high alpha hops were used to make this limited production beer of only 13 barrels. That’s just over 20 grams of hops used for each pint! DBH was brewed with 2 row barley, Carapils and Crisp Crystal 45 malts and fermented to 7% alc/vol. DBH was hopped with 5 different West Coast hops: Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade. Additionally, DBH was twice dry hopped with different combinations of these hops. The net result is an amazing aroma of ripe juicy fruit mixed in with a bouquet of spring flowers. DBH was brewed to a level of bitterness of 108 IBU’s, and leaves a lingering bitterness; it is, after all, a Double IPA!

Strong floral aroma. Citrus flavor that lingers on the tongue for quite some time. This beer would be perfect if it were a bit clearer.

1/6/15. 22oz bottle. Lightly hazed orange pour with a decent khaki head and mild lacing. Pungent hop aroma, lots of citrus and pine. Bitter flavor, citrus, pine, caramel, maybe even some chocolate, lots of lingering bitterness. Not bad.

Pours from tap a bright hazy amber with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Aroma of a little orange and peach, and a tiny bit of pine, but mostly grapefruit. Flavour of pine resin, grapefruit, earthy and floral hops. The beer left my palate medium bodied and perfect carbonation and a slick, oily mouthfeel that transitions nicely to the dry, bitter finish. Recommend.

Looks like the typical ipa smells great like a good ipa and then that's where the taste sets this beer apart from others. Hops hops hops! This sipper will not disappoint!

My Bottom Line:
Oranges and other citrus fruit bloom through this IPA’s dank and bitter resins for a pleasant show of American breweriana.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam laces around the hazy dull golden.
-Malts are accessory here, which is not surprising.
-The resinous bitterness is lengthy and sticky.
-Hop flavors could be brighter (not more intense though).

On tap at the Olde Hickory Station.

Bottle picked up at City Beverage in Winston Salem. Pours a cloudy orange with a 1 finger bright white head. Leaves lots a lacing on the glass. Aroma of harsh, bitter grapefruit. Taste matches aroma and lingers forever. Numbs the tongue. Very extreme. It's like a super bitter, somewhat thick, hop shake. Loved it...... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Got this at Olde Hickory Restaurant and tap room. It has a golden color that produces some lacing. It has a powerful aroma of citrus, grapefruit, teeming with hops. It has a taste bursting with citrus, hops, and a good bitter kick to it.

Clear orange pour with a single finger head. Aroma is sweet and full of caramel. Any freshness to this has been long lost. Medium mouth. Kind of a mess. Sweet, but strange bitterness. Grapefruit is still around, but it tastes off. A little lace. Slight alcohol burn. Bottle was a best by June 0f 2014 and I’m consuming this in October 2014. Bad trade.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is floral hop and citrus. Medium mouth with nice hop bite, juicy, simcoe, and nice lingering bitter finish. Very nice.

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with an off-white head. Aroma is fleshy fruit and floral hops with a mild caramel sweetness. Flavor is moderately bitter, with a touch of fleshy fruit hoppy sweetness. Light to medium in body with a lingering bitter and a faint fruity sweetness. Pretty good overall, but not sure how fresh it is.

Recent bottle from appalachian vinter. Big ibu and hop delivery. Bitter character. Decent drinkability.
