Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. Our brew master says: 71lbs of high alpha hops were used to make this limited production beer of only 13 barrels. Thatís just over 20 grams of hops used for each pint! DBH was brewed with 2 row barley, Carapils and Crisp Crystal 45 malts and fermented to 7% alc/vol. DBH was hopped with 5 different West Coast hops: Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade. Additionally, DBH was twice dry hopped with different combinations of these hops. The net result is an amazing aroma of ripe juicy fruit mixed in with a bouquet of spring flowers. DBH was brewed to a level of bitterness of 108 IBUís, and leaves a lingering bitterness; it is, after all, a Double IPA!

Strong floral aroma. Citrus flavor that lingers on the tongue for quite some time. This beer would be perfect if it were a bit clearer.

Loads of citrus and a bit of sweetness on the nose. The taste is tropical fruit and caramel. Nicely balanced.

Straight from the kegerator and rerated via bomber. This is what an IPA should be. Tons of sweet, juicy hops that are perfectly balanced by a clean malt base. When fresh, this is one of the best beers Iíve ever had. Itíll be on tap at my house as often as possible.

Pours a golden copper with a big fluffy, rocky off white head. Nose is very spicy hops with some citrus and a lot of pine and floral goodness, but mostly just very spicy, pungent hops. Pretty awesome. Taste is so so bitter, and hardly sweet though itís in there. Palate is not too light with an extremely lengthy finish. A big, bold, awesome IPA with just boatloads of hop character. Really amazing stuff that I hope I will be able to try again sometime. Thanks to Alex from Hops & Vines who created this beauty. A must have for any hophead.

All these comments below support my theory that this may be the best ipa on the market! Twice the taste as a lot of other ipaís for half the price! Great one to keep stocked.

Bottle thanks to Bin2, thanks for an amazing beer Iíd never have been able to taste in my lifetime. Pours a very nice light amber with a medium head. Excellent aroma of citrus and some faint pine. I have to say I was not expecting much from an East Coast IPA Iíd never heard much mention of. (Bias, I know.) After this the flavor was spectacular. Hops at the front and middle with hands down the most unique flavor at the end in any IPA Iíve ever had. Pledge. Yes, that sounds horrible to many people Iím sure but it really took me back to childhood and my grandmotherís daily cleaning regiment. It was an utterly unique taste that Iíd never expect in a beer and found it to be one of my favorites of all time. The end remains bitter with some nice hops and I found the beer stacked up very well with many DIPAís out there. The only negative I have is that as the beer warmed it began to have a very apparent Playdoh taste in the front. Again, childhood? Who knows but Iíd buy this beer in a second if I could.

An incredibly hop profile. Bottle from the bestway. Loved it so much I made a second trip and got the last bottle. Aroma, bitterness, and everything involved with the profile is top notch. Bubblegum amarillo dominates. Dark orange color. Citrus bitterness on teh front of the palate. Metallic and grassy on the back. One of the best doubles I have had in al ong time. Perfect balance.

22oz bottle, world greatest cap. Pale amber color. Tall, rocky, white froth. Long lacing. Hop floral aroma. Spicy hops, loads of resin & citrus oil, and grapefruit. This is what an American Double IPA should smell like! Sweet caramel malts, toasted grain flavor. Whoa, thatís a lot of hops. Death-by-Hops ainít no joke. Heavy on the bitterness. Deep earthy hop flavor. Finishes with a bitterness similar to biting a grapefruit skin. Resin, citrus, and pine... oh my. (3449)
