COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Greek epithet for Dionysus, Eiraphiotes means "Twice-Born." This Imperial Pilsner was a stellar beer right out of the conditioning tank, but its second birth from chardonnay barrels has transformed it into a truly magnificent creation. Very Limited Production.

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. This pours a golden color with a thin white head. This smells very bready; lots of pils malt here, with caramel, and some oak. The chardonnay is much more noticeable in the flavor. The barrel aging is more pronounced here too as the oak stands out. Sweet bready malt, light fruity notes, and a touch of grass make the rest of the flavors. A little sour twang in there. This is a tough one to figure. Itís not awful but I have to admit that itís a little odd. Even with the barrel aging, the alcohol is still evident and the wine/oak mixed with Imperial Pils is just strange.

Bottle from Justin in trade. Aroma of apple cider and heavy Czech malt. Flavor is much of the same, although it really falls apart as it warms. It seems like the idea for the beer was a good one, but the execution seemed flawed. Fair beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Greg at BBCK for cracking this bottle for my table!! Pours a hazy apricot with smallish frothy head. Nose and flavor are really quite nice, with good bready malt, tones of grassy and spicy hop, and really pleasant added sweetness from the chardonnay barrels. Touches of wood and light vinous grape and stonefruit come through. Nice that there is still a bit of dryness and bite with a 7.5% beer. Sweet, but still good. Really nice.

Wow. Not what I expected at all. Pours a light and cloudy amber color with almost no head. Subtle hints of fruitiness to the nose. You can actually get the chardonnay taste in there along with some hints of fruit. Extremely easy on the palate - one of the best beers Iíve had in that respect.

Well its interesting i guess. The imperial pilsner is a style that to me is an oxymoron. I want a pilsner to be crisp light and refreshing while this was kind of sweet and syrupy wood. The taste of the barrel is VERY strong with a lot of straight oak flavor. weird.

750mL shared at Berliner Bash. Low haze deep orange pour with creamy foam and medium lace. Sticky orange nose. Slick bourbon like taste with sharp grassy hops. Tangy and bitter palate. Mild stickiness and bourbon laden toffee. Not too bad. Thick and heavier.

2012 bottle from Paradiso, Georgetown, 05/05/2012. Golden pour, little head and a few soapy bubbles floating around. Aroma sweeter than your average pilsner, fruity, round white wine/vinous character dominates, vanilla underneath, straw malts in the background. Taste is less sweet, but still strong barrel character, light fruitiness, subtle caramel and light grassy bitter finish. Medium thin, buttery palate, moderately dry finish. Easy drinking, went well with food.

750ml from Samís, Durham. Had this on tap and in the bottle from the same joint, and my opinions changed. While I appreciate the draft version a good bit, I found the bottled version a bit less impressive. To me, the wood was just a bit too sharp, and I wasnít getting a whole lot of the grape character. Noble hops and a decently pleasant chardonnay character make the finish a bit more enjoyable but it fell short of greatness.
