COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is STOUT beer, not for the meek! Hickory Stick Stout is a whole- lot-a beer full of malt. English pale and crystal malts start this beer quickly followed by big time chocolate and black patent malts. Tons of Cascade hops go into Hickory Stick Stout to round out the malt character. Hickory Stick Stout is a very robust stout, bursting with flavor!

22 ounce bottle, poured a dark brown, almost black color, with a thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, espresso, bitter bakers chocolate. Flavor is dry coffee, with chocolate added. Slightly thin on the palate, not as thick as I was hoping for, but nice non the less.

Strong aroma is smoky and little powdery with a hint of roast malt. It pours a dark-chocolate brown that lets daylight through only at the very edges, and has a fluffy, persistent, pale tan head. Flavor is mainly like burnt wood with just a little bit of coffee and tiny hints of molasses and unsweet chocolate. Texture seems just an itty bit on the thin side, but it is fairly fizzy and still manages to satisfy. Nothing great, but worth a try.

On tap at Milltown, Carrboro. Hefty dark brown pour with slight sediment. Nose of sharp roasted malts, char, and coffee. In general this is right in my wheelhouse, but this is at times overbearing and too aggressive. Still solid.

Dark brown/black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is light coffee and roasted malt. Chocolate and esspresso with a nice bitter finish. A dry start with a hinto sweet finish. Just a bit watery and fizzy. A tad of body away from being a pretty nice beer.

Draft at the BierGarden. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam which disappears quickly and doesn’t leave much lacing. Nice notes of chocolate on the nose. Definitely some hop bitterness on the tongue to go with the cocoa. Finishes clean.

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine (Triangle) in Raleigh, NC. Cola-like dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and faint floral hops. Smoky malts hit the tongue first with notes of burnt espresso and dark chocolate. Medium bodied. A nicely done stout.
