4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold wax bottle from Joe. Thanks bud. Pours pitch black with a toe finger brown head, looking super creamy, and with wicked retention. Sweet aroma of honey and roast, molasses and dark fruits, chocolate and smoke. Very dessert-like in the nose. Flavor is massive roast with serious bitterness, char, lots of sweet chocolate and dark fruit and molasses to balance. Big rich body with low to medium carbonation. I bet this would stand up nicely to bourbon barrels. Very nice, somewhat under the radar stout.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle from Bottle Revolution. It pours black with a dense, dark tan head. Smells like root beer. Roasty flavors with a bit of nuts, grain, ash, and dark chocolate. Full bodied with a medium finish. Pretty good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2014 (Rating # 9,200) Bottle... Pours dark brown (almost black) with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. The aroma is a marriage of dark chocolate and bourbon - just enough of each. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor is deeply roasted with a good deal of residual sugar, but also just enough hop and black patent malt-infused bitterness to balance out quite nicely. Finishes roasty, nourishing and bittersweet. Drinks like a meal. Very nice.
