Blacker than night, stouter than stout is our Imperial Stout. Brewed with a lot of malt & a touch of honey, Imperial Stout is rich & robust with deep, deep notes of dark chocolate & espresso.

2011 bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to Bruce. It pours very dark brown with a small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, tar, coffee, dark honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame seed, caramel and espresso. The taste is roasted malt, espresso, earth, burnt wood, dark chocolate, charcoal, toasted coconut and some soy sauce with a dry finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Pretty smooth and hides the alcohol well. Not bad, but I dislike the soy-sauce aspect.

Aged this one about a year and thought it was DAMN GOOD. Pours black with tan head and nearly no carbonation or lacing. Itís thick without being too sweet or syrupy, lots of chocolate cocoa, roasty, hazlenut, and maybe a little anise. Coffee is present throughout, especially in the finish. Very good.

Bottle a Chrisoís tasting 20/01/2013. Black with a big olde tan head. Treacle sweet caramel aroma. A bit boozy. Big bold roast toasty flavour, lingering bitter finish . A little salty soy sauce in there as well. Medium sweet,

Bottle from Sam - thanks! Black pour with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma is thin cocoa, light char, smoke, chocolate, and minimal malt sweetness. Taste is thin cocoa, light hop bitterness, ash, bitter chocolate, and some roast. Thin mouthfeel. Slightly different take on the style. Okay.

2011. Ashy, smokey. Roasted malt blend is good but not great. Nothing to write home about.

Bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON: Poured a thick oil black with a finger light brown head. Huge robust coffee and dark chocolate aroma. Thick creamy dark chocolate blast with hints of coffee bean and loads of malts. I did not get the honey in this, but its definitely a big beer.

Draft. The sweetness of the honey comes through. Black with nice lacing. Rich coffee. Some bitterness but not overwhelming. Nice but not my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
