Blacker than night, stouter than stout is our Imperial Stout. Brewed with a lot of malt & a touch of honey, Imperial Stout is rich & robust with deep, deep notes of dark chocolate & espresso.

Wildly intriguing aroma of toffee with a hint of honey and dark black pour leads to a complex but satisfying taste and smooth mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured the bomber into my bruery snifter. Tan head with beautiful lacing, this is a nice looking beer. Aroma of sweet coffee and alcohol. Taste follows the nose, a little boozy but nothing crazy. Pretty sweet but not too much. This is a very tasty stout. Pretty good all around beer.

Had this a few times over my trip to Dark Lord Day. Poured a dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, with a touch of bitter coffee, touch of smoke? Flavor was coffee. Dry finish.

Bottle from Justin in trade. This one poured liked used motor oil and had little carbonation. Aroma was of intense malts, bourbon, and slight honey. Honey actually came out more in the flavor and was fuller than all hell. I really liked it. After I found out the price tag, I would likely pass the second time around, but it was a damn good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Originally reviewed: 3/4/10. Grabbed a bottle of this from City Bev in town. Poured into a goblet. Pours a perfect jet black, allowing no light to penetrate at all. Very thin mocha head rests on top. No retention. No sticky lace. Freshly ground coffee, bitter chocolate, earth, and some roasty goodness all in the nose. Very nice. The body is silky smooth. Carbonation level is great for the style. Very smooth. Great flavors of bittersweet chocolate bars, coffee, dark breads, and a very light hoppy finish. This is as drinkable as it gets for this style I think. Wow. This is a great beer. They’ve still got a ton over there at the store, I may have to get some to store away for awhile...

on tap at ohb 7/12/11. nearly the same brownish black with orange at the edges as the hickory stick stout. tan head. aromas of charcoal, ash, chocolate, espresso, roast and raisins/dark fruit. the flavor is the same... fruity with lots of coffee, brown sugar and malt powder. roasty coffee filled aftertaste. the alcohol is warming but its flavor is unnoticed. slick bodied and smooth but ashiness lightens it up a bit. 7/3/7/4/15+

From notes. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose is roasty, malt Choclate, earthy with a little smoke. The flavor is also earthy, bitter a little dark fruit. The body is pretty light with medium high carbonation.

From notes. First reviewed 6/28/2011. Poured from a waxed 22 oz. bottle into a tulip. Out of the bottle this is nearly black, with dark red edges as I tip the glass a bit. A pleasant coffee brown head forms and slowly fades, leaving a bit of nice lace. Sweet roasted malt, a little coffee and vanilla, a lot of molasses, and some dark fruits. Medium roasted malt lends to some coffee bitterness and molasses sweetness. Dark chocolate is dominant throughout, with vanilla being fairly prevalent throughout each sip as well. Unnamed dark fruits add a little complexity. A little bit sweet, but mostly bitter at the end. Medium to full bodied, but a little watery for some reason. Medium carbonation and a little bit sticky. I enjoyed this stout for its subtle flavors, but I did not find this distinguishable enough to merit an upper tier ranking.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color that appears pitch black in the glass with a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Robust dark malt aroma with hints of dark chocolate, coffee bean, toast and oatmeal. The honey provides sweetness and there is a ton of sweet chocolate countering the roster notes. Subtle booze. Chewy full body with a decent balance of deeply roasted dark malt and sweeter, boozy notes. Slight bitterness up front and slightly acrid with hints of roasted coffee bean, burnt toast, bitter dark chocolate and oatmeal. The honey provides fullness to the body and smooths things out mid-palate with some much needed sweetness. There’s also some milk chocolate and a lactic presence balancing things out. Toward the end of the palate there is some sweet booze with a decent amount of heat. Still, it’s pretty easy to drink at 10.6%.
