4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Last of the 2012 purchased at Brawley’s in Charlotte NC. Pours rich deep black brown. Head is a rich milk chocolate froth of small bubbles that quickly disappears. Nose is restrained rich deep chocolate notes. Taste is sweet dark chocolate bitters with just a hint of honey sweetness. The rich dark chocolate flavor broadens on the finish. A staggeringly good beer.

Very good impy stout with lots of roast and the sweetness of the honey balances the flavor nicely. Second best beer OH makes behind Event Horizon.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
A great imperial stout by an established local brewery! Pours black with a subtle head and gives off chocolate along with a hint of smokiness! An excellent brew!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours jet black with a dissipating dark mocha head that ends up hugging my glass. The aroma is of rich sweet roasted and smokey malts. There is also bitter cocoa aromas with a soft yeast and booze like scents. While tasting I noticed a defined sugary malt sweetness, a very noticeable honey flavor, bitter chocolate, and a weak but pleasant booze taste. The finish is of bitter cocoa, mild booze, and a nice carmel malty tone. The finish did not linger but it did not rapidly fade. Overall this is an interesting but complex beverage. It reminds me of a weak braggot, a mild smoked stout, a chocolatey stout, and a sweet barleywine all rolled in one. I am impressed, this beverage is worth a try.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
2014 RBWG. Bottle shared at the Friday Night Downtown Inn Bottle Share.
Black, tan head.Mild aroma. Some chocolate, coffee.
The flavor runs sweet with chocolate and coffee gain.
Hides it’s alcohol well, but could use more complexity.

Nice heavy black pour with a tan head. Nice malty aroma, chocolate, a bit of sticky sweet honey. Thick mouthfeel, which is nice for an imperial stout. Chewy and sweet. Nice offering

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
A: Pours a thick, black ale with transient mocha head. No light thru this puppy. Spotty lacing. Surface can retain a bit of head with agitation.
S: The hops in this are actually fairly present - piney and resiny. Then theres some good fig tones as well as graham, toast, cocoa, honey, and hints of wood. Slightest pork scent at the finish (maybe hot dog smell).
T: Still pretty hot, this one. Plenty of cocoa, dry bitterness, turkish coffee, and hops. The beer isn’t particularly complex, but it isn’t bad either. Fairly one dimensional though. The alcohol is really poorly addressed here though. The finish is fusel plus above.
M: Thick, smooth and creamy. Nice, soft carbonation accentuates the beer well. Slippery finish.
O: Hard to get past the heat in this beer. Likely a really great brew at the one year to 18month marks. I would drink again, but only aged, but I would not seek for procurement.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black with a thin tan head head. Aromas are dark chocolate and coffee, some boozy notes. Taste brings some liquorice. Quite high carbonation for the style. Personally quite glad the honey is hidden.
