COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Irish Walker is brewed with six different malts and a blend of four classic hops. A long fermentation and cold aging makes Irish Walker a well rounded and complex Barley Wine. Irish Walker exhibits malty sweetness, fruity esters and malty balance. This ale will age well for years to come, or just enjoy now with good company. Cheers!

Bomber. Slightly hazy maroon color with a pretty large white head. Strong aroma of vanilla, wood, and alcohol. It doesnít say so in the description, but it sure smells like itís spent some time in a barrel. Anyway, the flavor is more of the same with some maple syrup and bourbon. Fairly long finish, but not overly hot for the strength. Excellent brew that warmed me right up.

Clear mahogany pour. Small tan head. Sweet malty aroma, sticky syrupy aroma. Flavor is sweet, very sweet, some birch syrup notes and a very faint tangy finish.

22 oz. bottle from Bottle Revolution in Raleigh, NC (Blue Wax, 2012 Vintage). Dark brown cola-like pour with a frothy khaki head. Aroma of tangerine and a huge amount of caramel and brown sugar. Some noticeable whiskey on the nose as well. The whiskey and oak are certainly detected in the flavor as well as dark chocolate, vanilla, and just a touch of citrusy hops. Sherry-like mouthfeel. Sweeter than I normally like my barley wines but this manages to pull it off. An excellent beer.

2011 Bomber from Ross (bronze wax much like the color of the brew). Nose reminds me of a between hoppy Bigfoot and Abacus. Nose is toffee, raisins, and hints of citrus-floral hops. Murky copper brown with a medium tan head. Flavor is bitterness, toffee, and a slight sweet raisin note. Finishes lightly bitter.

on tap at ohb 7/12/11. hazy. dark cherry wood brown with a soft khaki head. lots of stuff in the aroma... raisins, brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, malt powder, oranges and some grassiness. the flavor adds cherry notes to the aroma characteristics and a tannic drying on the finish. it taste like it has already been aged as there is very little in the hops department. it is slick and rich yet there is a little fruity acidity which keeps in in balance and quite enjoyable... and iím not really a fan of barley wine! 8/4/8/4/16+

2011 vintage back from bestway. Incredibly smooth and dangerously easy to drink. Aroma of plum and molasses. Most of that comes through to the flavor along with a roasty malt and burned bread malt flavor profile. Finish has a touch more malt with some roastiness an bittersweet coffee and chocolate. A bit of flavoring hops to round things out a bit. Another nice big beer from this fine brewery.

22oz bottle, 2012 vintage listed at 10% ABV. Iíll stick the rating here for the time being. Pours deep mahnogany in the glass that shows through as a cleat copper when held up to light. Thereís a small fizzy tan head that doesnít stick around long. Aroma is sugary sweet with caramalized sugar, toffee, and some overripe dark fruits. Taste has a slight bitterness up front with at least a hint of hops which is more than I got in the nose. Itís still mostly about the caramelized sugars and malt sweetness with light vanilla and toffee notes. Mouthfeel is slick and smooth with low carbonation and little bitterness. Itís probably a tad lighter bodied than most in the style. A solid if unspectacular barleywine with little complexity but a nice sweet body with some fruity notes.

Bottle shared by Peter at STL RB gathering. Pour is a deep clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavor are caramel malt, light brown sugar, a touch of bitterness, distant pumpkin, and a light alcohol burn. Finish does also have some resinous hoppy notes. Solid brew that hides 10.5% well.

22 oz. bottle via BA trade. 2011 vintage. Pours a clear, brown-hued amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of resinous, earthy hops, toffee, dried fruits, caramel malts, and maybe a hint of tobacco. Flavor of resinous hops, sweet malts, toasted brown sugar, crackers, and mild spice. Medium-bodied, with a resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Very good barleywine, and the hop character has held up well in the bottle.

Sampled at the StL RB gathering. It poured a red color with a small white head. The aroma was of brown sugar, molasses and roasted malt. The flavor was of brown sugar, alcohol, chocolate, molasses, maple syrup and vanilla. A very good Barley Wine.
