22 oz. bottle shared by Jeremy. Pours black in color with a medium sized thick tan head. The aroma has a great combination of roasted malts, dark bread, coffee, dark chocolate, fresh raspberries, caramel, honey with the expected barrel notes. The flavor has all the character of a big imperial stout; roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark caramel, a hint of coffee, and a splash of honey. This is enhanced withe oak, bourbon and a touch of vanilla from the barrel. Everything is topped off by the raspberry fruitiness. I thought everything worked together nicely.

Draft at Bruisin' Ales. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Big raspberry and bourbon notes on the nose. Tart raspberries compete with boozy bourbon on the tongue. It's flavorful but I'm not sure the flavors complement each other very well on the tongue. Hides it's booze fairly well. Solid impy bourbon stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Large shared bottle. Thick, full body with medium-light carbonation. Rich malty flavor with subtle but detectable raspberries; hints of dark fruits and dark chocolate. Faint coffee in the aftertaste.

Jet black color with creamy brown head. Aroma has bourbon, raspberries and roasted malts, absolutely well integrated. Taste starts with a nice raspberry note, toffee, slight coffee bitterness and really well integrated bourbon notes. Body is medium-heavy and the ideal amount of carbonation for the style. Beautiful beer overall. Perfect combination of fruit and imperial stout.

22 oz. bottled 10/13/2015. Pours pitch black with a lasting creamy film of foam. Nose is rich with dark chocolate and vanilla. Some hints of soy sauce, oaked whiskey and berry. Flavor is sweet with chocolate, then some whiskey and raspberry. Oak and dry cocoa in the long finish. Heavy body has a smooth medium carbonation. Definitely a dessert beer and I’d like it just a touch less sweet, but this one never gets overtly sticky and remains pretty drinkable.

Gifted bomber. To be honest, the sound of a raspberry, honey imperial doesn’t sound great to me. The use of raspberry is in no way subtle in the beer, but it works in a way that makes sense and there are enough beer qualities to keep this from tasting like alco-pop. Rich raspberry aroma and flavor come through the roasty, chocolatey malt body. Bourbon barrel aging adds a pleasant oaky, vanilla flavor. Olde Hickory definitely achieved what they set out to make. I’m sure people go nuts over this one.

Reviewing a 2014 bottle Pours a pitch black body, head is espresso foam colored. Head retention was good and lacing was average. Smell immediately transported me to the Colorado Convention Center during GABF. Idk why but I got a whiff of a used taster glass, and I mean it in the best possible way. Heavily roasted malt, bourbon, and sweet raspberry jam dominate the nose. Hops aren’t present and alcohol scent is moderate. Taste is very smooth and balanced. Charred malts, sweet raspberry and honey, and bourbon meld nicely together. Fruit isn’t too sweet or medicinal tasting and alcohol isn’t overpowering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and well carbonated. Head stayed for awhile and added a nice texture to the beer. Wish it was a bit thicker overall. Overall this was an outstanding fruit stout and one of the best raspberry beers i’ve ever had. Well balanced between sweetness and bourbon but I think a tad more bourbon and a thicker body would have pushed this beer to world class status. Regardless, definitely looking forward to more of this, Olde Hickory really knows how to make imperial stouts. P.s. Maybe next time I should drink it fresher to compare

22oz bottle 2014 vintage pours dark brown black with medium tan head. Nose is sweet sticky berry, cherry, dark chocolate, bourbon spice. Taste is medium bodied, sticky sweet jammy berry, bordering on medicinal, bitter dark baker’s chocolate and sweet bourbon dark fruit. Finishes sweet, berry juice and cacao, hershey syrup. Prettygood but a bit too unbalanced towards the jammy side for me.

Bottle: Thanks, Mike. Pitch black, dark as hell with a fine-bubbled, burnt-tan foam that slowly rises up to a few millimeters before quickly sifting away into nothing. Huge barrel aroma; oak, vanilla, bourbon, underlined with thick brown sugar, molasses, cocoa beans... Raspberry is subdued at first, but emerges with some warmth... & it is lovely. Jammy sweet, puréed undertones coupled with a moderate honey sweetness. Blended so nicely with the barrel, not artificial at all. Chocolate covered raspberries dipped in bourbon. Flavor is equally as impressive. Molasses, raspberry jam, bourbon soaked wood, vanilla, chocolate, burnt brown sugar, figs, even a touch of maple syrup. Great balance of sweet, tart, roast, & heat from start to finish. Big, thick mouth feel. An absolute pleasure. Maybe not as good as BC Bramble, but pretty damn incredible.
