3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally reviewed: 5/9/11. Spent a day in the mountains with my family, and stopped in to MM in Blowing Rock for dinner and got this on-tap. This beer came out in a mason jar which was a nice little "mountain" touch. Was a dark ruby color with a small beige head on top. The nose was sweet with candied malts, floral tones, syrup.
Smooth and creamy mouth on this one. Really a mellow gulper. Nice sweet malty backbone with plenty of nutty flavor that I really liked. Caramel and toffee notes noted. This really was a refreshing beer to sip while waiting for my food. I definitely much preferred this on-tap to the bottle form. But this makes me want to revisit it for sure. Another solid offering from OHB.

on tap at ohb 7/12/11.
crystal clear amber color with an off white head.
the nose is all about the corn... sulfur, light caramel, toast and some vegetals.
the flavor is the same...heavy on the canned corn with an earthy damp aftertaste.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. I’m going to steal my husband’s descriptor and say that it is black tea color plus a big white head. Smells tinny and lemony and grainy. Kind of watery with a little carbonation. Sweet up front, then kind of watery and grainy. Not my thing.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
From the bottle poured a tea colored brew with a large head. Medium bodied with aromas and flavors of malt, butter, and tin can, with a barely noticable hop finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Strong, malty aroma has a yeasty overtone but is otherwise about average. It pours a clear dark coppery brown with a fairly thick, slightly yellowish light tan head. Malty flavor has yeasty and grassy notes with just a hint of apple, nothing special but still enjoyable. Texture is quite fizzy but just a bit on the thin side. Overall, a decent if not outstanding brew.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draught at the brewery. Pours a nut amber with ring lace. The nose is of caramel and walnuts. Sweet caramel malt with a hint of cherry on the tongue. A well-balanced bitter back finishes the pull. Soft carbonation and a medium body accompany a smooth mouthfeel. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber pour with watery off white head. Aroma of light brown sugar, caramel, and paper. Light caramel taste with a nice earthy bitter finish. A bit thin and foamy. Pretty nice light bodied beer.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle---the pour finished with a large head. The color is a pale brown with lacing around the edge of the beer. Aroma was malt, caramel and sugar. The taste was the same with some candy like toffee, slight bitter taste in the finish. OK beer but it needs to get everything together to improve. Bruisin Ales 4.50

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at the local. This is what it is. Not the best vienna I have had but its better than most schwill. A tad overly corney and vegetable-ly at times. Not one I plan to revisit.
