COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Belle- epitome of grace, poise, charm, and Southern hospitality. Irreplaceable, inimitable and unforgettable, the Belle holds a place in the hearts of all she meets. Our Southern Belle is brewed with un-malted wheat and acidulated malts which make for a very bright and refreshing saison. Like many a Southern Belle she is both sweet and tart, smooth and brisk. Please pour gently to avoid rousing the yeast. Enjoy with proper manners as this little Belle is 8.5% abv.

Tap at the taproom. Poured a dark gold color without much head to it. I’m not a fan of saisons, so I found this very harsh on the palate and taste buds. Much sourer than I like my beers.

Not a saison at all. Too sweet on the taste. Bad flavor. Really not a siason and overall is a really bad beer

Cloudy orange, loose white head. Very bready, boozy aroma. Smells kind of like fresh French bread. I also get some herbal notes, and some woody, oaky aromas. Flavor is woodsy, bourbon, apple and tobacco. I like this beer ay 8.5%, but I think I’d love it at around 5.5 - 6.0%

Pours golden yellow with a white head. The aroma and flavor are both bringing noxzema like astringent notes, I am assuming from the saison yeast. There are some sweet notes with a sharp ending as well.

750ml from Sam’s, Durham. This customarily rock solid brewery hasn’t really found its groove with saisons just yet. Nice enough appearance to the beer, a deep cider-y look and well carbonated. But there’s a sweet grainy collision in the nose that suggests this one hasn’t developed nearly enough yet. Saison Gee was better, and I found this one to be tart and apple juicey, lacking almost everything I crave in a saison.

Draft at taco Mac. Pours golden with a thick white head. Very sweet on the nose. It smells like rum. Also very sweet on the tongue with only a hint of funk. It could use more hops.

Bottle. Damnit. Really wanted emacgee to just have gotten an "Off" bottle but that was clearly not the case. This stuff is not so good. Smells like stewed veggies with a hint of lemon, the yeast does not seem to be very clear on its job description. "what would ya say, ya do here?" Glad I haven’t subjected too many of my trading partners or friends to this one. Hopefully round 3 will be better. This is nowhere near what a saison should be. American, or Belgian.

Bottle. Pours a soft straw yellow with gold hues and two fingers of pillowy off white head. Very dense and sticky. First whiff and I get a pretty vegetal/creamed corn character and notes of cooked peaches. DMS? Very rich, almost dextrinous with bready notes and raw yeast. Flavor is a mirror representation of the aroma. Vegetal/creamed corn as I breathe out after a swallow. Lightly spicy with a noticeable acidity. Raw bread dough and yeast. More body than I expected from a saison. Did not enjoy this one, get a lot of unclean/off characters.
