pours out yellow with a tan colored head. hoppy smell and taste as well as a nice citrus flavor. this beer is pretty damn good, and easily their best beer. the brewers in NC sure can make some pretty damn fine IPAs. nice! sampled at brewgrass 04 on draught.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with orange highlights and a dense off-white head. Aroma of nice high alpha-acid hops with some grapefruit tartness and a plentiful malt background. Medium-bodied; Good strong hoppiness in the taste with a strong alcohol kick with a strong malt backbone. Aftertaste shows the hop character lasting long with a good hop bitterness. Malt & alcoholic character goes a long was as well in extending the taste. Overall, a nice beer to be able to sample and a fine example of an APA! I sampled this pint on draught at the Beer Sellar in Knoxville, Tennessee on 02-October-2004.

Much more impressed with this beer, however, I don't see how they call this an IPA. Not nearly as hoppy as it should be. Decent Pale Ale? Yes. Amber color with a creamy white head. Light hops in the aroma. Spicy hops taste. Other than that, somewhat bitter at the end, but nothing that really blew me away from an IPA standpoint. A decent brew though nonetheless. Even if I think they have the classification wrong at Olde Hickory. Had this on tap at Barley's in Knoxville, TN!

Draft sampler at the brewery. This was a very good IPA. Had a slight west coast flavor and just the right amount of pale ale bitterness.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2003 Orangey Brown, with a thick white head. Piney, spicy aroma. Very earthy, resiney, piney flavor, and a sticky, mouth-coating finish. Very dirty, messy beer, and I like it. Nice effort from Olde Hickory.

Nice aroma--floral hop presence, with Cascade hop presence. Coppery, malty flavor, solid body, good finish. Easily the best beer of the brewery, and a fine effort from my own little hometown.
