COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Black pour, small dark mocha had. Bourbon, vanilla, coffee, sweet aroma. Same f the taste, Honey sweetness is present but not cloying. Some wood/smoke as it warms. Some alcohol present. Full body, lower carbonation. As much as i liked drinking this i cant help but think this would have made deadly rib marinade. Good balance. 2012 bottle.

Jet black, small dark brown head. Intense woody, boozy, vanilla bourbon nose. The bodynis thick and quite nice, with low carbonation. Flavor is quite sweet, light notes of soy and cocoa with touches of burnt malts. Problem is the bourbon barrel just takes over and punches you in the face. A nice stout, but the barrell over powers.

22oz bottle that my brother brought back from Charlotte, thanks Jeff! 2012 Vintage. Pours a black body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pretty awesome. Very rich dark chocolates and a bit of a molasses sweetness with lots of roasts, a really nice wood and bourbon, some vanilla, and coconut. Flavor is similar. Rich dark chocolates, lots of roasts, bourbon, wood, coconut, molasses, vanilla, and a few dark fruit notes. Finishes dry, roasty, woody, chocolatey, and bourbony before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Creamy, smooth, medium-full body and a soft, medium-light carbonation. Overall, an awesome BA Imperial Stout. The barrel adds a very nice complexity to the base and stays extremely well balanced throughout. Loved this one.

A: black with a bit of a brown head that dispences to the edges. S: Smoke, molasses, tar, some wood and vanilla. T: Dark bitter chocolate, some honey sweetness, smoke, alcohol, bourbon and molasses. M: medium with some carbonation, this ends with some molasses and heat. O: Its ok.

22 oz. bottle served in a CCB Snifter. 2012 vintage. A: Pours a dark black color with some semi-transparent edges. A tan head forms on the pour and recedes quickly to a thin ring. Some splotchy lace is left behind. S: Light bourbon up front with a malty sweetness. Caramel and milk chocolate are both present with a minimal heat to it. Strange for 8.5%. Some oak on the finish as well. T: More sweet than the nose suggests. The milk chocolate and caramel notes coupled with some light vanilla definitely leads to the sweeter side of the spectrum. Some roasted malts in the body with a prominent bourbon characteristic displayed on the finish that is coupled with some oak barrel. M: Medium to heavy bodied with a medium carbonation level. Sweet on the finish. O: I like the bourbon characteristics were present, but not overly alcoholic in nature. Probably due to the low ABV. I’m glad the heat in the nose didn’t transfer to the taste. Overall a very solid beer. Serving type: bottle

2012 bottle to Stone IRS tulip. Thick black pour with a foamy brown head. The head looks like the top of a cola from the side but looking straight down into the glass it reminds me of a rich, creamy chocolate milkshake. Sweet and boozy aroma that reminds me of dark chocolate covered nougat. The alcohol fragrance is there but it comes across more as chocolate liqueur than whiskey. Taste is very similar to the smell with a little more roast and a bright, but not overly prominent burst of hops. This is extremely well balanced in every aspect. All of the flavors are there but none outdoes the other. Even the booze finish is warming and clean like a good vodka. Medium full in the mouth. I was expecting more whiskey flavor but I’m impressed with what’s in this glass.

I wasn’t going to tell you this. I’ve been listening to the distress signal, and I, um, think I made a mistake in the translation.

Go on.

I thought it said "liberate me" - "save me." But it’s not "me." It’s "liberate tutame" - "save yourself." And it gets worse.

There - I think that says "ex inferis." "Save yourself... from hell." Look, if what Doctor Weir tells us is true, this ship has been beyond the boundaries of our universe, of known scientific reality. Who knows where it’s been, what it’s seen. Or what it’s brought back with it.

From hell.

This beer really showcases honey and bourbon welli can see why it is rated so highly. Nose shows heavy bourbon with typical underlying vanilla and light molasses. You can sniff the honey out quite easily. Heavy on bitter chocolate. Taste is the right balance between chocolate, honey and bourbon. Bitterness and sweetness are both in check. Flows quite well. Booze is there with you. A touch grainy in the mouth feel but goes down fine with the shift carbonation. Really quite easy to drink with a sinister side to. It dies have that intensity I've cone to expect from bourbon barrelled beers. Good effort ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

on draft..poured deep black with big brown head in tulip glass. the aroma was fantastic. lots of dark roasted malts, woody and alcohol. the flavor is more of the same just more intense. the malts and woody flavors mixed with hops and alcohol blend so well together. didnt get any of the honey but the sweetness undertones are well pronounced as well. another beer for the cellar.
