COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Pours a thick deep brown with a caramel colored head. Beautiful beer. Aroma is bourbon, wood, caramel, cappuccino, dark chocolate, vanilla, molasses. So many different things come through in the aroma. Very impressive. Taste is baked chocolate, roasted coffee beans, booze, vanilla, and honey. The flavor is good, but it’s not quite as epic as the aroma and appearance of this beast. Mouthfeel is slick and full. Overall, this is a great beer. The flavor is lacking that "it" factor to make this a truly elite beer. Regardless, it’s still worth seeking out.

Pours black with a tan head. Oily on the side.of the glass and.mouth feel. Chocolate and Bourbon aroma. Silky medium body chocolate vanilla and bourbon in the middle and a dry bitter finish. Little carbonation. Good but missing something in the beginning of a sip... flavor kicks in late.

Bottle. Oily black pour with short lasting khaki head. Intense aroma with alcohol, chocolate, and cocoa powder as the dominating notes. Flavors of molasses, cocoa powder, vanilla, and dark fruit. Warming alcohol finish, drinks like a much higher ABV beer. Very slight bitterness, and the finish is a bit hot, like drinking a watered down bourbon. I wouldn’t notice the honey unless I was looking for it, but I do think it smooths it out and cuts any cocoa powder bitterness.

The best this brewery has produced to date in my opinion. Pours very dark in color with hints of honey and bourbon. Taste included oak with a subtle smokey flavor.

2012 bottle. Pours dark brown/black, with a brown head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt, dark fruit, and chocolate. Flavor is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt, some smoke, and a little alcohol. Medium to heavy body, with a long, sweet, then slightly bitter finish. I waited a while to try this, and it was worth the wait.

From the 12/2013 3R6P gathering +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy dark brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong coconut, vanilla, rum, dark fruits, strong malts, vanilla, marshmallow and more coconut. I kept a bit of this aside just to keep nosing throughout the night. Marvelous aroma! The flavor was strong coconut, chocolate, vanilla, hot pepper, marshmallow and rum. Very long finish of coconut, rum, vanilla and chocolate. Thick and syrupy body. Marvelous!

Got as a Christmas gift, 2013 edition. Wish I had another bottle to let age. Sweet. Very sweet. Heavy on the palate. I think it would be awesome with a little age

i ventured far into the deep space of Durham NC to find this 22oz bottle of madness. It pours out midnight black with a very little beige head. The aroma is a wonderful mixture of bourbon, oak, vanilla, and honey. It’s so good once it hits your lips. Nice woody bourbon taste mixed with sweet honey. And the aftertaste is killer awesome as well. Sweet vanilla woody bourbon just stays on your tongue. My good lord. In my opinion, if you find this beer get it!

Bottle @ Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. Cheers to Bruce for bringing this along! The pour’s brown with a small head. Chocolate brownie nose. Some vanilla, rocky road fudge. Some dark fruits. The taste is hot and sweet. Cocoa, raisin. Vanilla. Spicy yule log. Full body, syrupy. Soft carbonation. Pleasantly fat, flavorful.
