COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Bottle at the 2nd tuesday tasting. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of bourbon, tar, licorice, some chocolate, alcohol and a little bit of roast. Taste has chocolate, bourbon, licorice, bit of roast and alcohol. Medium body. The bourbon is quite well balanced, nice stuff.

Bottled @ de Molen, label said 8.5% (hard to believe though), small sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of thick and rich malt, quite some bourbon, coffee, chocolat, slight honey. Aroma is really heavy and absolutely stunning. Flavor is a bit thin for what you expect from the aroma. I was expecting a quite thick and maybe a bit sugary RIS even, but body was a bit thin and alcohol was shining through a bit too much. Wonderful aroma, flavor cannot live up to that.

Bottle at the De Molen Second Tuesday tasting, September 2013. Poured a deep crude oil colour with a bubbly glass hugging tan head. The aroma is rich malty and alcoholic. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a creamy, liquorice, malty, alcoholic palate. This really was a super rich heart warming beer.

Sample at the molen monthly tasting. Thin tan head. Clear black pour. Lots of raisins. Tastes like a 12% beer. An awesome brew.

On tap at Busy Bee (Raleigh). DARK brown with lighter brown head. Aroma is sledgehammer strong of malt and bourbon. It tells all, leaving nothing. Taste is the sledgehammer, in a very good way. Powerful malt flavors, and the bourbon flows after. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

ChrisO’s Pre GBBF ’Are You Scottish?’ tasting. Opaque black - brown beer. Good dark tan head. Palate is softish and airy and a little dry. Lovely rich dark malt with dark chocolate. Light vanilla, mild fruity bourbon. Finishes semi dry with all flavours in good balance. Very drinkable!

bottle, from Triangle Wine, I believe and I thought this was a later release than 2010. good aroma, sweet roasty. dark chocolate, licorice. Dark brownihsn black color. good initial head, faded to a soft foam cover, spotty lace. bitter sweet flavor. thick body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter finish. good, but something I’m not liking here. I mean it’s rich yet maybe the multiple ingredients done come together for me, oh well
