COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Bottle shared by Peter at STL RB gathering, thanks for this treat!! Pour is pretty much totally black with a thin ring of tan foam. Aroma is rich and smooth bourbon with notes of roasted malt, coffee, light coconut, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is so smooth and well-rounded with notes of smooth roasted malt, light brown sugar, faint tobacco, and notes of vanilla. Very rich and satin-like mouth feel (I’ve never eaten satin, but I imagine it’s like this). This was a big hit at the tasting and deservedly so. Very good beer. So smooth and silky.

Pours pitch black with a finger mocha head. Dissolves quickly but leaves tremendous lacing Smell is of rich chocolate, bourbon and slight hint of coffee. Wonderful. Taste is very creamy. Nice chocolate flavor. Nice toasted coconut flavor and very slight bourbon, oak wood flavor on the back end. Thick but not too thick. Perfectly carbonated. Dangerously drinkable. Poured a couple while I was at Duckworth’s. Couldn’t get enough of it. The alcohol is very well hidden even though it’s not a "huge" beer. This is my favorite beer and can’t wait til it’s released again at the end of the year. IF you haven’t tried this beer, do whatever you can to try it. It’s worth the hype and some.

3200th rating. 22 oz. bottle via BA trade. Most recent release, late 2011, I believe. Pours a deep, opaque brown with almost no head. Big, rich aroma of vanilla, chocolate, oak, roast, dark fruits, caramel, and bourbon that provides a little bit of warmth. The flavor hits all the same notes, with rich roasted malts, lightly charred oak, vanilla, dark fruits, caramel, honey, and molasses. So rich and yet so well-balanced. Finishes roasty after starting more mellow. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, roasty, smooth mouthfeel. Man, this was good. My "Best in Show" for the tasting at which I opened it.

Sampled at the StL RB gathering. It poured a black color with a small off-red head. The aroma was of dark fruits, raisins, wood, some brown sugar, molasses and a slight red apple oxidation. The taste was bourbon, some soft rich chocolate and cocoa butter. A very good Imperial Stout.

Tasted from cool wax-dipped bottle at 2nd STL Ratebeer Gathering, thanks phaleslu! Poured an opaque black color with moderate beige head. Everything you could want from an Imperial Stout. Malty, hoppy, fruity, tangy, roasty...100% true-to-style aromas and flavors plus the best aspects of bourbon barrel aging. High alcohol percentage was barely detectable, just warming and mellow. Harmonious and profoundly good.

vyvvy (3285) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - FEB 18, 2012
Sampled at STL RB Gathering - Pours very dark brown with a dark orange head. The aroma has roasty malt, slick oiliness, plastic, sweet black licorice and some chocolate. Medium viscous body with a light amount of carbonation. The flavor starts slick and roasty with chocolate, berries, tart apple, bit of oiliness and slight sourness. The finish brings in warming alcohol. Good impy stout.
