COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Poured inky black with a deep brown head. Aroma is of bourbon and slight chocolate. Taste is heavy malt, alcohol, chocolate, oak wood and honey finish. Carbonated enough to please the palate. Top 5 in my book for stouts and top 10 in overall beera.

22oz, black waxed bomber, courtesy of a generous SC/NC trader on BA. pretty excited to try this one, actually. pours a deep, rich, oily black with a soft, one-finger, dark mocha head leaving beautiful, oily legs and drips of lace. aroma is absolutely stunning with huge notes of dark chocolate, molasses, burnt brown sugar, and rich oak backed by beautifully subtle notes of PvW bourbon, roasted malts, dark fruit tannins, and honey with just hints of expresso and vanilla as it warms. flavor is superb as well with the smooth, rich, subtle spice and wood notes of the bourbon barrels adding a perfect background to rich, dark chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, and coffee with hints of cedar wood, vanilla, earth, and sticky molasses on the back end. palate is perfectly smooth and silky with light carbonation and a richness found in only the best BA stouts out there with a subtle, smokey, spicy twist on the swallow that leaves just a whisper of bourbon and dark chocolate on the finish. overall, i was not sure about all the hype surrounding this beer but it damn sure did a good job of living up to it. outstanding BA imperial stout.

Holy bourbon batman! This is one fine example of a bourbon aged imp stout. Tastes of figs, cinnamon a bit of brown sugar. Large bourbon notes on the nose. Very well rounded beer. Would love to have another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Blackest of black pour with a dark tan head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, chocolate, subtle coffee and lots of roasted malts. I could just sit here and smell this beer for an hour that’s how good it smells, wow! Taste doesn’t disappoint either. Plenty of bourbon barrel and cocoa with a wonderful roasty character. Absolutely delicious. Long smooth finish. Bottle from Ghetto1971 thanks a million man!

2013 vintage. Thanks Chris! 22 oz. bomber into a tulip. Pours a thick black with three fingers of dark mocha foam. Loads of lacing. Nose is huge sweetness. Chocolate fudge, cocoa powder, honey, vanilla, and light roast. Taste is the same. Incredibly sweet chocolate fudge with honey and vanilla/oak in the background. So well integrated and balanced. On the sweeter end of stouts but the bourbon influence really keeps it in check. Smooth and thick mouth feel with a perfect abv. This is a phenomenal stout. Very sweet and sticky but the low abv makes it super easy going. Fantastic!

Bottle: The aroma consists of milk chocolate, maple syrup, coffee, faint molasses, and a touch of bourbon. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a very fine ring. The flavor starts with milk chocolate, molasses, and a touch of dark fruits. The finish has moderate maple syrup, light coffee, and vanilla/coconut. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Overall, I love barrel aged Imperial Stouts that have make syrup flavors so this is right up my alley.

Simply a sensational barrel aged beer. Pours a beautiful ink black with thick chocolate head. Aromas are big sweet bourbon, molasses, honey, and vanilla. Beautifully sweet and balanced. Sweet bourbon, oak, honey, vanilla, and mild heat from the alcohol. Awesome stuff.
