The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

22oz bottle from Triangle wine in Southern Pines, NC, at the low-low price of $17. Jet-black pour with a ruby ring, minimal carbonation. The oak and bourbon is overpowering in the aroma, leaving little for anything else. A hint of chocolate, tons of alcohol, bourbon infused with an oaky aftertaste. Some dryness in the finish. It’s quite good as long as you’re in a seriously high gravity mood. One of the strongest beers I’ve ever had. I think the 10% is more of an approximation, +/- another 10%.

Via trade with BBQSlim. Thanks!! The aroma is sweet bourbon, honey, chocolate. The appearance is deep black, deep tan head. The flavor is light bourbon, honey, chocolate, licorice. The finish is light bourbon, booze burn, light roast, light pine. Medium/thick in body. Nice overall.

Bottle (2012), thanks to drfabulous. Sampled next to OH Imperial Stout. From notes: Pours thick and viscous, like motor oil. Aroma is full on fudge brownie; roast dialed down from imp stout. Honey present in the taste as well; slick, viscous, velvety ... really nice.

Bomber. Vintage 2013. From a trade with jcnielsen. Thanks a lot Justin! Enjoyed at the ISKTR 2014. Black colour with a small brown head. Whiskey sweetness, vanilla, roasted malt, hops and bitterness in the aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, vanilla, whiskey, a lot of sweetness and mild bitterness. Rich and smooth but still rather easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kaatuu pikimustana, kultakatriinan värisellä vaahdolla, ihan ok viipyvyys. Ylimakea raikkaahko tuoksu, ehkä käynyttä luumua?. Suutuntuma leipäinen, kuohuva, alkoholinpoltteinen, raikas, hapokas.

65 cl bottle @ ISKTR 2014. 2013 vintage.
Pours pitch black color with a nice small beige head, oily pour. Very nice bourbon burst on the nose, roasted malts, some espresso notes, vanilla and cocoa. Bitter malty palate, roast notes, bourbon, some vanilla and molasses. Very rich and complex, surprisingly easy to drink and velvety palate. Heavy and excellent brew.

650ml bottle @ ISKTR 2014, Thanks rosenbergh!

2013 vintage - Pours pitch black with a beautiful brown head. Aroma of bourbony butter sweetness, roasty malts, hints of coffee, hops, honey and dark chocolate. Taste is sweetish, roasty and quite smooth with loads of bourbony notes, vanilla, toffee, wood, oak and honey. Finish is sweetish, woody and roasty with notes of oak, vanilla, toffee and honey. Quite slick but complex and balanced.
