COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

22oz bottle from Triangle wine in Southern Pines, NC, at the low-low price of $17. Jet-black pour with a ruby ring, minimal carbonation. The oak and bourbon is overpowering in the aroma, leaving little for anything else. A hint of chocolate, tons of alcohol, bourbon infused with an oaky aftertaste. Some dryness in the finish. It’s quite good as long as you’re in a seriously high gravity mood. One of the strongest beers I’ve ever had. I think the 10% is more of an approximation, +/- another 10%.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Near black in color with a small brown cap. Nose is ripe with vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrel. Same in the taste, but huge! Loads of chocolate and vanilla, light bourbon sweetness, and woody. Good roast to balance and overall very smooth and silky, not overly sweet. Delicious. One of my favorites of the night.

650 ml. bottled Dec 16, 2014. Pour is jet with a lasting thin film of espresso cream on top. Aroma is Baby Ruth candy bar (caramel, chocolate, salted and roasted peanuts) and mild touches of raisin, espresso, soy and whiskey. Taste is the same huge mix with some toasted coconut and oak in the long finish. Heavy body is smooth with medium carbonation and an excellent balance in all directions. This awesome dessert beer is slightly sticky but perilously quaffable.

It pours black with a small brown head. It has a rich, sweet coffee and bourbon aromas with a bit of chocolate and nuts. It has a very rich texture with flavors of coffee, a bit of sweet honey, bourbon flavors, and oak. It has a bitter finish on the palate that highlights the oak and bourbon.

Bottle from Joe. Thanks brah. Pitch black pour, small fizzy dark brown head. Huge anise aroma with some coconut, lots of bourbon and woody oak, roast, sweet chocolate, caramel, yum. Flavor follows with lots of bourbon and anise and settles into vanilla and caramel. Roast and chocolate are there, and there’s an extra sweet tang that I assume is from the honey. Surprised how well this stands up to the barrels at only 8.5%. Rich body, medium low carbonation. Even better than expected.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small lingering brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, dark chocolate, roast and light bourbon. Palate was full bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, light roast with a smooth lingering thick brown sugar finish. Very nice.

Bottle @ home shared by Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, small dark brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, honey, slightly roast. Taste malts, roasted malts lightly, bourbon, vanilla, bitter and slightly chocolate. Medium body, medium carbonation. Full flavoured, slightly alcohol, but very well done.

Bottle generously shared by Tony. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Chocolate and caramel aromas. Taste follow suit with dark roasted malt and oak highlights. Good body and mouthfeel.
