8/25/14. Bomber from Sam's. Pours copper orange with a nice head and lacing. Good citrusy nose w a hint of coffee. Mouth is quite bitter with coffee and hop notes mixing together. Good example of a coffee IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Flying Saucer (Raleigh) Pours a nice amber with a touch of white head. Primary aroma of coffee, but not the strong coffee of a coffee stout. Taste is an odd/unique combo of coffee and hops. I can see why some reviewers noted other failed coffee IPAs, but that this one works. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice slightly hazy tan coloured body with some hints of blonde and gold and a nice, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of pungent hops, strong coffee essence and a bit of malt noticeable. Medium-bodied; Strong coffee flavour with a lot of bitterness up front from that and the plentiful hops as well, all coupled with a fairly balanced malt backbone and hints of grass and herbs hit on the back. Aftertaste shows the two primary flavours well with coffee coming out slightly ahead of the hops, but a little maltiness is around along with some alcohol notes which are strong near the finish. Overall, a decent coffee-based IPA with a lot of flavour and a surprisingly balanced and nuanced finish. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased earlier in the day from Total Wine in Raleigh, North Carolina (Crossroads) on 02-August-2014 sampled at my brother-in-lawís house here in Raleigh on 02-August-2014.

I like IPAs, and I like coffee beer, but most coffee IPAs Iíve had donít really live up to the potential. This, on the other hand, is pretty darn good. Nice citrusy hops mixed with rich coffee flavors. Really tasty!

Bottle, courtesy of durhambeer... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a hazy orange with a decent head & nice lacing on the glass.

I donít even know why this smells so appealing. Itís roasty & very coffee forward as well as being pretty fruity & hoppy.

The flavor is a harmonious balance of light roast, chocolate, & fruit forward coffee with a nice big juicy hoppiness. Itís lightly sweet & roasty with a moderate level of bitterness.

As good as I could ever imagine this type of beer could be!

22 oz. bottle shared by Hamp at Ale Alpharetta. Pours orange, with a small greyish head and lots of lacing. Coffee and chocolate aromas dominate, with some light notes of resin and wheat. Very sweet, with some roasted bitterness, but not a lot of hop bitterness. Medium body, a little acidic, and thin. Overall, this is a pretty well made and interesting coffee beer, but it lacks the IPA hoppiness that I was expecting.

Bottle, from Triangle Wine, Morrisville. Good aroma, sweet, coffee and orange. Brownish orange color, good initial head faded to a foam cover, spotty lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel , bitter finish that fades. Pretty nice, flavor best part. Though aroma is a nice blend too. Real nice take on a coffee IPA
