This beer was named after the train that used to run from Downtown Ames to the ISU Campus. The Dinkey has a flavor deriving from Coriander, Chamomile, Orange Peel & a closely guarded fourth secret ingredient. This mixture makes for an enjoyable and unique drinking experience!

Had on draft at the brewpub in Ames, the Belgian-style witbier is fresh-tasting though average overall. I might have made more of its aroma but for the giant orange slice floating directly on top of the beer in the glass, so what I got was a noseful of citrus - and not from the "orange peel" ingredient. This sounds damning, but in fact Dinkey Wheat is a good beer; a decent example of the type. Thanks to the brewer for...being there.

Bottle. Pours a hazy honey gold color with thin fizzy white head. Aroma of orange, chamomile, and vanilla. Reminds me of a mug of sweet chamomile tea. Clean medium bodied. Nice sweet body. Nothing harsh or bitter. Pretty smooth. Sad the tummy can’t handle more of these...

Bottle poured a cloudy tarnished gold with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, chamomile, citrus and a hint of pepper. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast, chamomile, citrus and white pepper with a smooth dry lingering chamomile finish.

Foggy orange. Taste is orangy wheat. Interesting cinnamon flavor. Even on the finish there is a lingering amount of spice. I

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with barely any head. Aroma is bland. Taste of apple juice and spices, almost like an apple cider with beer mixed in. Not something I would ever drink again.

(bottle from Oslo, thanks Al!) Pours a very hazy light gold color with a white head that disappears completely. Aroma is certainly unique, and at times it’s not that bad, with a predominant smell of coconut macaroons. As this warms however, it veers into a soapy and sour aroma that is none too appealing. There is a bit of a floral element here as well. The flavor is full of lemon zest, some orange peel is present, and I could see the coriander providing an edge near the finish. As this warms it again morphs into something really odd, with sour flavors intensifying and the unmistakable flavor of Cool Ranch Doritos dominates. I’m thinking this may possibly be the guarded fourth secret ingredient. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is fairly high. Overall, the description is correct when it states that this is a unique drinking experience, but they were incorrect in classifying it as enjoyable.
