A black beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet and roasty chocolate. The flavor is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a little alcohol. Very standard.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a nice light brown head. Aroma is smoke, a little chocolate, and some alcohol. Taste is deeply roasted malt, with weak notes of caramel and chocolate. At first it was like sucking on a charcoal briquette, but after letting it warm for awhile, the chocolate really came out, along with some faint dark fruits. Not bad at all at that point. Thin, average length, watery finish. Mouthfeel needs work, and there is too much roasted malt, but this isn’t too bad. The best Olde Main beer that I have had so far.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2011 Bottle courtesy of CanIHave4Beers. Cheers, Andy. Pours lovely near-black with a pretty thin tan head. Nose is roasty and nutty, with hints of espresso, anise, and chocolate. Almost a rye-like note. Andy nailed that aroma that bugs me about some stouts and porters: a chlorine hint mars the nose. Tastes better, with added hop and milk sugar elements. Big flavor for a lighter stout.
