3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. An IPA too huge for its own good to be drank as an ipa. If I want all those hops and that malt I want to be able to drink at least a pint of it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewpub (listed as "Batch 501 Double IIPA). Pours a clear dark orange with a white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and crystal malt. Flavor is very sweet with some acetone, citrus, and crystal malt. It is nice that this brewpub is trying to tackle some more interesting styles, but this one needs some work.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Olde Peninsula.
Poured a hazy dark copper color with an average creamy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus and earthy aroma. Medium body with a smooth slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
My expectations where met.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours a transparent amber bronze with a thin tan head. Has a fresh grapefruity hoppy and sweet caramel malty nose. Starts fairly full and caramely sweet with a citrusy bittering hoppy balance toward a slightly warming finish. A pretty decent double IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Olde Peninsula. Deep murky red-brown body, thin-medium tight light tan head. Intensely winey, berry-like sweet body, boozy, with abundant citric hops in both the nose and flavor. Alcohol is warming but pairs nicely with the candied fruits and caramel. Reminds me a bit of Founders Devil Dancer but sweeter and a bit less rindy. More of a barleywine than a double IPA with the huge malt backbone, but I’m certainly not complaining.
