4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Truly a “black patent malt” stout. Taste is full of French roast coffee and Special Dark chocolate. There are hops here, but they only say “hi” after you swish it around with your tongue. Strong taste that cuts through a mouthful of salty chips.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster at Olde Peninsula. Looks good for the style; a semi-opaque dark cola with light beige head. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a black with medium tan head. Some lacing. Coffee aroma. Flavor of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Lots of roasted maltiness. Nice bitterness. Dry finish. Like some of the other OP brews this one has gotten better over the years. Would recommend

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt with some roasty notes. This is a rather plain stout flavor-wise, although it is easy drinking. Overall a decent stout if you’re not looking for something super special.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Saturday session: Opaque with a good creamy beige head. The aroma has notes of walnut, chocolate, roast, grassy hops, plum and mineral esters. The taste has dry stout flavors, roasty and ashy with a slight fruity and coffee notes. The mouth feel is soft and dry, thin-bodied. Okay but lacks depth.
