On tap. Straw golden pour, fairly cloudy, with a smaller white head. Nose of cloves and spices, with plenty of wheaty tart overtones and a somewhat strange toasted note. Taste is lightly tart with some bitterness and not much sweetness. Palate is lighter, active, with a lingering spicy finish. An ok brew, but not spectacular by my account.

Draft. Overall decent hefe, but not up to par with many on the market today. Nothing too memorable, all pretty mild features...

Bullit (3854) - Burgos, SPAIN - JUN 7, 2010
Draft at Olde Peninsula. Unclear yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is wheat and bit of bubblegum and banana. Flavour is wheat, banana, yeasty and spices. Light bodied. Dry finish.

Draft sample at Olde Peninsula. Poured clear yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate wheat, banana and clove aroma. Medium body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium smooth sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good session beer.

On tap at Olde Peninsula brewpub. Hazy yellow with thin white head. Aroma of banana. Light clove, yeast and mild fruit. Banana flavor with mild cloves and yeast. Smei-grainy body finishes dry. Decent hefe.

Cloudy golden pour with a tiny ring of white lace on top. Weak aroma of bananas. The flavor is stronger, which is nice, I could taste bananas and cloves. The body is light to medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. All it misses is some bubble-gummy yeast.

cloudy yellowish orange body with no head.....aroma of banana, cloves, lemon, and wheat...flavor is the same with added spice notes and a sediment-like finish...tasty

Silphium (3158) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - SEP 10, 2006
On tap at the brewery/restaurant. Cloudy yellow body, thin off-white head. Banana and clove notes dominate both the aroma and the flavor, which I don’t mind. Rather refreshing and light. One-dimensional but quaffable.

Draft at the brewery. They push this as pretty much their only summer seasonal. WAY to over the top with banana and clove for my taste. Will not be having this one again...

Crosling (1863) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - JUL 15, 2005
Sampled on draught @ the Olde Peninsula Brewpub in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Cloudy pale color. Nutty, peanut butter aromas, with hints of caramel and toffee, doughy yeast and a light hint of banana and clove. Flavor is really acidic, with an unpleasant sourness and funky barnyard flavors that I do not desire in a German Wheat. Light cookie and nutty malt, with a light hint of clove but pretty much just a thin sourness. Not very good, but wow, what an aroma.
