Decent aroma, for a thin unexciting beer. A friend brought this for me from a trip to upstate new york.

Tap at Hop Devil. Aroma of caramel malt with a light tartness and red fruits. Flavor brings out a rich, sweet malt as the tart hint remains, and more earth and bread comes out as well. Thought this was a Vienna as I was drinking it, I guess it’s a sort of hybrid. In any case, quite tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A - Pours a nice cloudy amber color with a nice finger of off white head. The head had so-so retention and leaves behind some small lacing.
S - The aroma is very malty. There are also some elements of sweetness, like carmel and toffee mixed in.
T - The beer starts off very strong with the malt flavor with a nice amount of sweetness to balance it. Other sweet elements, like the toffee and the carmel elements, mix in to give the flavor some complexity. The finish is just a tad bitter.
M - Medium bodied with the right amount of carbonation (medium). The beer feels super smooth and crisp and feels really refreshing, especially with the bitter finish.
D - Very drinkable lager, while still having a lot of flavor. Very well balanced flavors from start to end, and a very refreshing beer overall.

Medium gold, almost in the amber range, white head. Doughy aroma, some very light hops. Similar favor, light hop finish. Light to medium bodied, quaffable. Not all that bad.

That "premium lager" almost threw me off - this is a rather nice, full bodied beer with some fine malt and hop qualities. Really wonder if it’s been retooled since earlier as I see some poor rating from years back. Good stuff

Had this one bottled in Glens Falls, New York. Clear, medium brownish red pour with a nice thick tan head, nose of sweet grassy malts, very nice citrusy notes in the flavor, and a dry finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a small brown head. Aromas are of straw, pine hops, and light caramel. Flavor is sweet toffee and caramel, and a touch of bitter hops in the finish. This is crisp, slightly bitter, with medium body. It’s alright.

i have to say, i wasnt expecting much from this, seeing as it was labeled a lager. but seeing it here as a marzen, it makes sense. and for being an american-made marzen, its even more astounding how good it is. nutty, buttery, malty with some butterscotch notes and a clean bright finish. very well done.
