Brewed in the grand tradition of the Vienna beers of Austria and the Marzenbiers of Munich, Olde Saratoga Premium Lager is a smooth, medium-bodied lager with a pale copper color and a rich aroma. German hops and imported Munich malt impart an intriguing balance between light, soft bitterness and a refreshing sweetness. Hand-crafted with an "old world" attention to detail, Olde Saratoga Premium Lager is a sure bet every time.

1/25/2014: Olde Saratoga Lager... More golden than amber in color; malty aroma that’s faintly like toffee; flavor has toasted bread, slight buttery toffee; soft and malty overall with a spicy finish; fruity and slightly dry in the middle; medium body ; creamy mouthfeel for a lager; not quite a full Maerzen, but still good. 12 fl. oz. bottle (5.5% ABV) shared by Brian. Thank you! Rating #95 for this beer.

Tallahassee, Fl - Beer Stop - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly sparkling medium copper with no head to speak of. Aroma has some light caramel and dates, some sweet potatoes. Flavor is decent and on the sweet side with some caramel notes, a touch of raisins, just a light hint of chocolate, a hint of olive oil. Clean, even mouthfeel. Had better Märzens.

The body has a nice amber color with a slight haze. From the pour I got a tall off white head. It is made up of mostly loose soapy bubbles that quickly settles down to a thin cap that holds on near to the end. Lacing is limited to just a few spots at the top of the glass. There is some good malt aroma here with nice sweet bready and nutty sweetness. I also pick up some leafy hop notes as well. Its flavor is medium bodied and basic but good. As I had expected from its aroma there is a nice bready malty base with some sweet caramel and light nutty notes mixed with some leafy herbal hop bitterness. Its texture is a bit smoother than I like to see in a lager but not a big distraction.

Twelve ounce bottle from Beer Of The (Every Other) Month Club. Hazy medium amber hue, nose of malt/biscuit/skunk, toasted malt flavor overwhelmed by bitterness and chemical notes. Like an attempt to cross a marzen and pilsner that comes up short.

Pours chestnut brown with a large yellowish white head. Smells mildly malty, hints of caramel. Taste is mild caramel sweetness with a hint of bitterness underneath. Light-bodied with a wet texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Saratoga Lager finishes with a slick sweetness.

Clear copper/amber with a medium off-white head, modest retention and lace. Rich bready malt aromas with caramel, toast and toffee notes. Mild caramel sweetness offset with a gentle hop kick, accompanied by a flavorful spiciness. Medium body, generous carbonation, creamy/sticky mouthfeel, and a very clean and crisp finish.

A clear amber body with an off white head that had mild retention and nice lacing. Caramel malts and spicy hops on the aroma. Flavor was similar, but with a nice bitterness in the after taste. Smooth finish. Well balanced all around. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
