Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 11, 2003 Black w/ medium brown head. Coffee/chocolate aroma. Creamy, soft body. Hint of molasses, smoke and shades of coffee. Straightforward but quite drinkable by the pint. Radek Kliber (3284), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 20, 2008 On tap at Brewpub
Appearance: dark brown ale with large creamy , tanned fine top. Nose : sweet , roasted aromas of barley , hints of inka coffee , some perfume touchess.7- Flavor/Palate : Creamy , soft bodied. Light roasted character with very slight acidic finish. Soft creamy topping covers roasted notes. Ok , but Quiet ordinary brew, to creamy for my liking.
CapFlu (3254), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 23, 2005 (Draught) Sampled at the brewpub in Peterborough, ON. Pours a lasting brown, creamy head with an opaque body. Milky, roasted coffee nose and bitter cocoa. Very vinous and oily. I would have prefered a grittiness. Nose is somewhat red wine, vinegar and gueuze. Seemed somewhat infected... jerc (3102), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2006 Black body with a nice creamy tan head. Very dry, bitter flavour with an almost chalky dryness in the finish. Very dry roast aroma, lightly sour ashen malt notes. Very thin body for a stout. A disappointment. tupalev (2285), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 13, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Black, thick nitro like head - looks great. Aroma was killed off by nitro a bit, but still roast and coffee there. Taste was a revelation - so dry and roasty, certainly the driest stout we product here in Ontario (that I’ve tasted). Complex full body, lots of coffee and chocolate notes as well. Finishes extremely dry. A very good stout that just starts a little slowly.
