COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Great aroma of burned nuts. slight hint of chocolate. Nice taste of malt and nuts that unfortunatly fades too soon. but all in all a good beer!

Bottle. I really liked the syrupy and chocolaty aroma. Sweet malty taste. A little thin.

A very deep red-brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is a little dusty and carpet like, but also spicy. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and fruit, leaning toward overripe fruits. The body is thin to start off (while it is cold), but turns nice before the glass is empty.

Tap (Plan B). Served in Ølfabrikken tulip. Unclear brown. Moderate, off-white head. Lightly hoppy, lightly malty aroma. Pleasantly balanced flavor: nicely, darkly malty with finely, freshly, citrusy hoppy finish. Reminds me of some of the Nøgne Ø offerings. Soft, but rather thin mouthfeel.

Draught. Dark, murky copper-brown with a large rocky off-white head. The aroma has lots of soapy orange hops which are most definitely pronounced for this style. Caramel softness in a generally smooth body. Flavours are a bit light and there is some wateriness at times. The hop bitterness drops off fairly quickly too. Sampled at the Københavnske Øldage 2006 on May 20, 2006.

Bottle. Very cloudy dark brown with a creamy head. Light cardboard, toasted and caramel malt aroma with some hints of vanilla and smoke. Quite toasty in flavor. Mild chocolate and roast flavors also. Rather watery in body. Dry for the style(which I like). Muted hop character. Finishes fast. Overall, quite nice.

Swing top bottle. Malt, licorice and pepper in the aroma. Malty, yet dry flavor with earthy hops and licorice. laurel in teh aftertaste. Tasty brew.
