COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ØLFABRIKKEN COLUMBUS PALE ALE is a tribute to the American Columbus hop, which we love so much at Ølfabrikken. The beer presents itself with astonishing pungent aroma of pine and grapefruit, which is coming back in the flavor, balanced by sweetness from British caramel-malt. The aftertaste is long and dry and characterized by hops bitterness. Serve it with creole food such as blackened fish and dirty rice with melted butter, homemade chili/raisin/apple chutney. Ølfabrikken Columbus Pale Ale is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized like all Ølfabrikken beers.

Draught. Red-orange-yellow colour (really!) and bubbly white foam. Fantastic aroma! Perfume, orange, nuts. Wow. Taste is very balanced, not as strong as I expected, but full and with a looong finish.

Draft at "Plan B", Copenhagen. An unclear red beer with a small creamy head. The aroma is dominated by hops with herbal and piney notes. The flavour is lovely with hops, good maltiness and again citric hops. The finish is quite bitter and remains in your mouth for a long time. A very good beer.

Draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen<
Beautiful red-mahogany color. Very nice hoppy aroma, fruity, a lot of apricots. Very good mouthfeel, good sweet caramel flavor and very good hopping, both fruity (bitter oranges) and resiny, leading to a long and strong final. And this with a reasonable alcohol content. Excellent.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2008 Bottled. Reddish amber, airy head. Striking lychee aroma. Medium dry and medium bodied. Very hoppy with lots of fresh perfumy grapefruit and lychee. Malt is just for support, all the character lies in the vast amounts of American hops. Finishes with shampoo and pine needle-like bitterness.

Draft. A slightly hazy deep red beer with a nice creamy off-white head. The aroma is sweet and lovey hoppy giving it notes of spices, pine needles, and a flowery medow. The flavor is sweet with light notes of fruit, pine needles, malt, flowers, and caramel, leading to a dry and rather bitter end where notes of oranges and pine needles lingers for a long time. The body is quite thick.

500mL flip-top shared by Dickinsonbeer. Color is completely dark murky orange (I did pour last on this). Aroma is juts such a fresh hoppiness with no bitterness to detract from it. I get spiky, lightly sweet, perfume-y oranges. Taste presents a thicker sweetness both from malts and hops and again an orange-hoppiness. Has a nice full mouthfeel for a very drinkable hoppy beer.
