COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Near Ølfabrikken is a field with 1000 raspberry plants carrying a late sort of small and very flavorful raspberries. Once a year we pick the raspberries and throw them into a single brew. Due to The harvest 2005 was characterized by more rain and colder weather than usual, which meant than the berries was more tart than usual and even more complex in flavor. We decided that the base beer should be complex and sweet to match the berries. The resulting beer made from seven different malts, three different sugars, five different hops and a Belgian ale yeast provides a huge body and complexity matching the raspberries. Ølfabrikken Dekadence 2005 is of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Cloudy brown beer. No head at all. Fruity raisin and dark fruits nose. Fairly neutral palate but very loe carbonation. Unsweet and rich raspberry. The malt base has a marmite streak. A strong Raspberry Barleywine! Like Dogfish Head Fort’s younger brother! No idea this was 13.0% so the alcohol is well hidden.

Mittellanger Nachgeschmack, fruchtig. Test vom 2.7.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,12,13,13,-,13 - 12,63

Bottled (batch #148, brewed 29.6.2006)
Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Aroma is a bit oxidized with some madeira and rasberries. Flavor is also oxidized but has strong rasberry presence. Full-bodied and sweetish. Nice balanced dessert beer, which has been at its best few years ago.

Bottle shared by WeeHeavySD at Woodshop 5.0 (2/20/10): Pours a transparent mahogany with a small ring of off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel toffee with some light fruity complexity and oxidation. Starts semi-sweet with some fruity raspberry flavor and complex black cherry notes very reminiscent of Kuhnhenn’s Raspberry Eisbock. Well-balanced and delicious.

Tried at Woodshop 5.0. Light cherries. Light sweetness illusion, but taste is dry. Big foamy head. Very good.

Flip top Bottle I believe I got via trade with Kim Johansen. I shared this at Woodshop 5.0. 5 years has served this beer quite well. Pours brownish with a tan ring. Nose is big and razzy. Taste is sweet with raspberries and it has mellowed to a level that I’d barely think was 8%. Shared this beer around and gotten mentioned in this LA Times article: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/02/rare

Got to rate this since it was served from the very last keg af CSAs tasting. Not much to look at being unclear and brown with no head. But the berry flavour and the sweet and lightly sour taste combined with a smoothness the totally disguised al booze was heavenly!
