BB 2012, trade from yespr. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of licorice, dried fruit and smoke with an oxidized touch of cardboard. Sweet roasted flavour with a little peat smoke and some oxidized notes.

375mL 2005 ed courtesy of ygtbsm94. Pours a flat, clear, deep brown to near black. Aroma of burning plastic, rich Scotch, soapy and lavender perfumey Islay cask, big smoked meats. Taste is spicy, woody, powerfully soapy and perfumey Scotch but there is really no booziness or alcohol warming. Slight tartness/lemon comes through eventually. Relatively thin palate.

2005 Vintage. Opaque black brown stout. Nose of malt, whisky and wood. Palate is fairly neutral but low on carbonation. A little unsweet dark chocolate quickly gives way to mellow Islay repleat with a smoky note. Finishes a little tangy with more whisky and smoke. Decent.

Bottle. Very dark brown and flat. Intense whisky aroma, and lots of peat, smoke and whisky in the taste, too much I think. No carbonation. Powerful.

375 ml bottle courtesy of Marsiblursi, Pours oily very dark brown with no head worth mentioning. Has a very vinous look to it. Smell is sweet and rather subtle with roasted malts, peat, whisky, hints of liquorice, alcohol, slight oxidation and rubber notes. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with lots of peat, roasted malts, wood, vanilla, chocolate, plums, cherries, smoke and dusty hints of oxidation. Mouthfeel is vinous with no carbonation. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter and slightly tart with coffee and bitter chocolate. Sadly a bit too old. A fresher bottle with atleast some carbonation would have made a great whisky aged beer.

Pitch black with creamy brown head. Lot’s of coffee, malt and SMOKE.. To much smoke and to "big" for my taste.. Thick and super-full body..

(bottle) Pours black with no head. The aroma holds smoked meat, peat and rubber up front with undertones of oak wood, mild vanilla, dry gravel, crayon, tart, leather, wet cardboard, coffee, cocoa, dark sugar and pee and honey. Bit vinous. The flavour is near medium sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic. Cocoa, smoke and peat, light oxidized and light vinous. The mouthfeel is round, oily and tiny tart with no carbonation. Tart roast, numbing smoke and round hops on the finish. Medium to full bodied.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2008 Bottled at Glenfiddich Warehouse 68, Stockholm. Opaque very dark brown, absolutely no head. Papery whisky nose. Sweet with lots of vanilla, licorice and tar. Woody with clean, rounded mouthfeel. The islay whisky is very evident and gives fiery smoke and alcohol. Salty tarry finish. Warming and interesting, but a bit edgy and raw.

375ml, thanks ygtbsm94. Still, clear dark brown body. Aroma is sweet, smoke/whiskey. Taste is sweet, whiskey/smoke, dark chocolate, some alcohol. Medium-full body, some stickiness. Surprised it’s "only" 9% ABV.

Bottle. Thanks to Enjoyit. Pours like oil. No head. Aroma is dusty and a bit stale. Feels oxidised, but not really developing the brandy/madeira notes which are common in oxidisation. Roasted and fruity notes as well. Flavour is dusty, fruity and, well …old. Almost notes of brandy here, but not quite. Feels stale. Finish has lingering alcohol and grassy notes. Overall interesting and okay, but clearly past its prime. 07-05-10.
