Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

amazing beer, hard to believe that it fits into the porter category. 8% abv. Pours black with brownish head. Aroma of extreme nice roastiness and chocolate. Taste is roasted coffee, with grainy oats and chocolate. Loaded with some nice malts. A little on the strong side for a porter, but highly enjoyable quaff.

06 bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a deep, thick brown/black color with a moderate tan head that faded to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, light roast, vanilla, some dark fruit, and a hint of hops. Smooth, sweet milk chocolate entry that leads into a dry smoky flavor with some roast and undertones of light coffee and dark fruits (currants, fig). Low carbonation, smooth and full on the palate. Nice porter.

Canned(330ml). -trade with faroeviking (thanks Jacob).
Let’s see, porter from can... Black coloured, medium to big dark brown head, coffee and light chocolate nose. Roasted malt, strong coffee and chocolate taste with notes of licorice in the bitter finish. Also some light smoked hanm hints. Very good porter.

Can shared with ogivlado who got in a trade with faroeviking (huge thanks!)
Guess this is brewed by Fuglsang then. Poured a black body with some tiny streaks of red near the bottom. Huge brown head. Impressive. Nose of soy (good way) and coffee. The taste is rather rough but quite interesting. Coffee shows up first, soft yet bitter (I just love it when my notes make this ’much’ sense). Earthy. Kinda bready even. Some very dark chocolate rounds things up. Not exactly my type of porter, but definitely a respectable and nice beer. Wonder if it differs from the one they brewed themselves.

Pours a pitch black with one finger tan head and moderate lacing. Nose is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is smoky burnt malts, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and a bitter hop finish. Medium mouth feel. Outstanding tasting Porter.

Bottle via trade. Wow, best porter I have ever tried. Awesome appearance with a frothy milk chocolate looking head. Aroma and flavour is dominated by rich chocolate and smoke. Very interesting flavour and I loved it.

Thanks to BlackForestCO for the bottle!
Dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Nose is absolutely massive roast malt, malt abuse in fact, then some chocolate, minor fruit, and hints of wood and smoke. Same with the flavor, except the roast is not as dominant, allowing for more play between the smoke, sugary fruit, and chocolate, a small kiss of hops playing coy. Full bodied and creamy. It doesn’t present mind-blowing complexity, but it’s a delicious beer that pushes the throttle and remains classy while doing so.
