This porter poured a dark brown with a bubbly head of dark tan foam. Some heavy, slippery lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of sweet chocolate and caramel, fresh coffee, burnt sugars, and vanilla. Very inviting! The flavor included heavily roasted malts, strong coffee, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and a slightly alcoholic finish. The mouthfeel was creamy and medium-bodied with light, soft carbonation. A very tasty porter. Definately one of the best of the style. Petrucci914 (601), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is chocolate and dry coffee roasts - perfect aroma for the style. Taste is about the same - perfect characteristics for the style without overdoing it. Quite the balanced porter. Pours a deeb brown color with light off white head that fades quickly. Aroma is milk chocolate, light coffee and fruit, as well as a bit of metallic/copper taste. Taste is milk chocolate, light vanilla, sweet dough, and light coffee. Alcohol is very well hidden which gives it a very cream mouthfeel. Excellent. johans (36), Copenhagen, Denmark

Wondeful aroma with loads of dark berries and a slightly hoppy nose.
Thick texture, roasted but in contrast to many other beers this dark, it has no astringency or harshness in the finish. Very complex and full of flavour, but easy to drink at the same time, mybestfriend (262), Gothenburg, Sweden

Pours a impenetrable dark brown with a fantastic thick solid-looking head with great retention - so thick it keeps its shape. Aroma is overwhelmingly present; marmite, fig, cocoa, molasses, the sweet essence of freshly-pulled espresso, rather than the bitterness thereof. What a first impression! Now in for the kill: I am surprised by the mouthfeel right off the bat, before my tastebuds have a chance to clock in: thin, reasonable carbonation but on the soft side. Then alcohol warms the finish and I start to detect what I’m actually tasting: milky, surprisingly nutty (probably the British brown malt) and delightfully chocolaty in the finish, not just cocoa but milk chocolate. Notes of fig remind me of a Baltic porter. Light buttered-toast notes in the finish, slight hop character but just enough to balance things out perfectly. While I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t a big, thick, chewy sandwich of a porter, I do like the complexity of this beer a LOT. Many thanks to Boutip for the trade. My 500th rating!
