COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our interpretation of the hoppiest of all beers, as it was served to the British troops in the eighteenth century. We have chosen to give this a Danish attitude with the addition of large amounts of malted rye. Together with excessive quantities of American hops this yields a complex and intensely bitter ale with a spicy bouquet and flavor. Enjoy it with spicy dishes, where the bitterness will complement the flavors. Ølfabrikken Rug IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Fruchtig, bitterer Geruch. Das Bier ist sehr bitter von vorne bis hinten, dabei besonders im Mittelteil stark ausgeprägt. Im Abgang dann noch ein wenig fruchtig. Auch dieses Ølfabrikken-Produkt kann überzeugen. Test vom 15.6.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,8,9,9,9,9 - 8,65

Thick and sweet. There is not much to this beer, standard light gold color, and in addition to the unusually thick palate, there is light malt sweetness and faded hops. Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t bring a lot to get excited about.

Received a 500 ml swing top bottle via trade with Papsoe. Pours a hazy caramel colored brew with an average light tan head that dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of dry caramel malt, powdered citrus and grassy hops, a touch of pine and tart berry. Taste is medium bodied, semi-tart flavor of multi-grain malt, some tart fruit and some grassy hops. Finish is semi-dry a slight tart aftertaste with grassy and citrus hop character. Not your typical in-your-face IPA caliber beer but still a solid IPA.

Interesting for an IPA. It’s actually quite low on many IPA dimensions. Malty and a bit sour, with a lively mouthfeel. It didn’t stack up very well against many much more interesting beers. Thanks to Skyview for sharing.

[Bottle] shared by skyview. Pours a cloudy caramel with a smallish tan head. Aroma is malt forward, noble hops, and a touch grassy. Flavor is fairly tart, some sweetness, and just a touch of hops and bitterness.

Courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a thin head. Dusty pine aroma. Malty backbone. The hops faded into a light pine bitterness. A decent, simple IPA.

Bottle. Deep amber clear body with a medium dense offwhite head. Aromas from fruit, citrus, rye malt, and yes... lots of hops :-). Sweet rye flavour and malty spices, with a little alcohol and bittherness in the finish. The balance of the malt and hops are surprisingly and very enjoyable. This was a really nice bottle of beer.
