COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor's note: Brewed by Ølfabrikken at Het Anker, Mechelen, Belgium.

This Christmas beer is our interpretation of the Belgian saison type. It is dark, spicy with a dry finish and powerful carbonation from refermentation in the bottle. The beer presents itself with a hefty nose of anise leading to a a slightly sweet beer with light body and a flavor dominated by notes of cocoa, caramel and rye bread leading to a long dry finish. Of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle.

Dark brown with a red hue and a nice, huge head. The aroma has notes of anise (strong) and I also find licorice and malt. The flavour has notes of yeast, anise, licorice, roasted malt, caramel light sweetness and rye bread and a slightly dry finish. IMO too much anise!

Tasted 2007-12-17. Fresh bottle. Pours dark, hazy, red/brown with beige head. Powerful aroma; ripe plums, alcohol, burned sugar, spices. Likewise powerful flavours - not bitter - slightly acidic, ripe fruits, yeast, alcohol, anis and chocolate. It’s a lot to get through, but it’s good!

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Pours a cloudy, orangey brown with a beige head. Malty aroma of licorice and cough syrup. Medium body with a very lively carbonation and EXTREME accents of licorice - wauw, the most heavy licorice notes I have ever encountered in a beer - and a bit much really. The finish is quite bitter. 191207
