18th November 2009 Opaque black beer with a brown tinge. Light silky soft palate. Sweet spicy herbs with coca cola! Subtle and unsweet chocolate. Finishes with a neutral palate and more of the same flavours and some hop limping through. Interesting but could not drink much of this.

Bottle. A brown one, clear, and topped by a nice beige head. The aroma has a sweetness reminiscent of a Belgian ale, with some roasted malts, alcohol and coffee. Dried fruits too. It’s sweet on the palate, with dried fruits, a touch of coffee and a faint touch of chocolate. Full-bodied, warming and sweet. Long, warming, roasted and bitter finish. A wonderful beer that is missed. 101015

Bottled. Quite much black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is slightly toasted, has some liquorice, spices, herbs and mild dark dry fruits. Mild coffee as well when it warms up a bit. Flavour is quite much the same, but with the coffeeish notes kicking in a bit more sour. Overall still quite sweetish.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - NOV 13, 2009
Black. Small, creamy, tan head. Aroma of licorice, dark chocolate, dry roasted grains, dark fruits, subtle alcohol. Flavor adds sugar, pumpernickel, and a bit of coffee towards the finish. Medium to medium/full body, just a bit smoother than balanced, lightly viscous/oily, great mouthfeel, real easy to drink. Excellent, unique brew. From notes.

Bottel@home. Pours black, with brown medium dense head. Aroma is almost like a porter, but more light. Sweets, coffee, chocolate, and warming in mouth. Roasted malts, and ripe fruits, spicy and a taste thats last, what seems like forever. My last one, such a shame, cos’ me’s a like.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - OCT 2, 2009
Bottle, courtesy of a hardcore Danish crew, probable vintage 2006, 3 years old, bb 2012 Black color. Mature, oxidised caramel aroma, light chocolate and alcohol. Medium body strength, sweetish caramel and chocolate flavor; it seems that the bitterness has been going down; there is some light alcohol perception towards the end. A pretty good beer, but didn’t age very gracefully.

Botella, thanks a bunch for sharing this one yespr. Pitch black colour. Vinious dark fruity and roasty malty aroma with chocolate. The mouthfeel is pleasant but bit flat. Flavour of dark frits, roasted malt, alcohol and some coffee. Sweet dark fruity roasty finish. This one really did well aging.
