UPDATED: MAR 29, 2009 Courtesy of after4ever and shared with after4ever and bitbucket. Pours deep dark with nice light brown head. The aroma is burnt malts, roasted malts, ground coffee beans and a hint of chocolate malts. It starts out with both burnt malts and coffee beans. By midway the flavor smoothes out with the addition of roasted malts and licorice. Toward the finish the burnt malts grow and leave a burnt to coffee sense into the after taste. Really nice flavor notes that smoothly glide out into the flavor horizon.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Blom (809) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 9, 2008
Bliss, black and beautiful. Hefty aroma of roasted malts, hops, smoke, chocolate and cocoa makes way to a balanced creamy, almost oily palate. Finally the taste is so harmonic, being both sweet with notes liquorice, cocoa, dried fruits and chocolate and at the same time bitter like coffee and american hops.

Black as new moon night. Very dark brown head. Chocolatey, creamy, dessert-like aroma. Gorgeous. The flavour has a slight hop bite, with very rich chocolatey, toasty notes. Well balanced and full of life. Excellent.

Pours quite black - more dark brown. Head is firm and creamy - a nice coffee-like brown. Stunning aroma. Dark chocolate primarily. Then burnt, yeasty and flowery. Very creamy, very dry mouthfeel. Flavour enhances the chocolate, almost cocoa. Additional notes include some initial berries, then burnt, then hoppy bitter. Nice!

bottled, without fried liver. rich jet black with a steady light brown head; aroma of creme caramel, asphalt and brownies; rich mouthfeel, plenty of roasted flavours but with rasping, grassy hop character and loads of bitterness; all that richness made it seem much stronger than 6%

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 caesar (4029) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 30, 2007
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2007 Pours a dark black oily beer with a glow-in-the-dark brown head. I’m almost expecting an oily imperial stout now, just as the OL, which was fantastic. Aroma of coffee, caramel malt, loads of roasted malt, rye, licorice, some salami, chocolat. Thick and bit creamy body. The roasted malts flow like a wave through the mouth. Also some sharp licorice hints. Finishes very roasty bitter.
