COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American inspired strong ale dry hopped with whole leaf Centennial directly in each keg together with toasted oak and whole beans of Bourbon vanilla. Easy drinkable in spite of the relatively high ABV thanks to the dryness from the tannic acid in the wood and cane sugar added during the boil. Ølfabrikken Vanilje Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

Draught at Kobehavnske Oldage, May 2006. I am not very fond of too much vanilla in beer so I was doubtful whether I would enjoy this one. I need not have worried because the vanilla is very subtle and restrained. Mainly hidden by a big hop presence - principally pine & spruce notes. Mouthfeel is sharp, even slightly sour but there is some sweetness too. Pretty good, although if you are hoping for a big vanilla hit you might be disappointed.

Draught. Reddish brown with a good looking, dense beige and creamy head. Aroma of pine, grass, trees and flowers with citrus as well. Flavour is flowery with vanilla, hops and meadow (just an association)

(on bottle) Dark amber red, no head. Soft vanillanose and whole lot of hops, odd and too clashing for this tounge. Get´s very heavy and cloying real fast, loads of forrest berries, sugars and malts, along with hat irritating heavy hopping. not enough alcohol to balance all that stuff.

Nice, fruity, piney hop aroma. Almost clear, dark brown colour. Big, stable, creamy head. The flavour has a nice level of vanilla, not too little and not too much.

Draught, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Dark brown and hazy. Small head. Strong hoppy aroma. Quite pungent. Chocolate and vanilla in the mouth. Definitely dry hopped. A very potent brew, but flavours are nicely balanced.

Draught. Copper-red body with a medium-sized creamy yellowish head and lacing. The aroma is very big on hops, oranges, and grapefruit - there is a little bit of vanilla but it doesn’t really show up in the flavour. It’s dominated by orangey hops and creamy malt backing. I was expecting something different from the name but I was pleasantly surprised regardless. Sampled at the Københavnske Øldage 2006 on May 20, 2006.

Cloudy amber with creamy fizzy top. Grapefruit, citric hoppy nose. Light vanilla and sweetness behind. Medium bodied. Light vanilla front. Smooth with gentle hoppy finish. Creamy texture.
