A strong English Brown Ale. The full complexity of the body offers undertones of anise, hints of sweet toffee and a well-rounded dry finish. Hopped with Challenger, First Gold and Bramling Cross.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Deep amber pour, small khaki head. Toffee notes, bready, and caramel on the aroma - a hint of spice. Rich flavor, a touch sweet, toffee, caramel, bread, doughy, some spice. Not bad.

Way too much anise for my taste. Albeit i didnt read the deScription and wasnt ready for it i just thought it was very one dimensional. I think i also had it on cask.

On tap at Pratt. Pours a ruby color with a touch of haze under a medium sized yellowed beige head. Nutty malt, toast on the nose. Sweet and warming up front, malty. Malty, sweet toast, chewy malt with a touch of dark fruit. Long sweet malt, toast, gentle bitterness on the finish.

I liked this one at first - up front, there is a nice crispness to the malt profile, and a bright fruitiness from the hops - then, through the middle, it starts to get a bit sweet, with notes of fruit, toffee, treacle - not bad, but getting a little less enjoyable - then, the alcohol comes on very strong, especially in the finish, leaving a lightly medicinal notes - starts strong, but disappoints in the end.

Tap. Pours nutty brown with thin, creamy off-white head; decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie malt, almonds, floral hops, figs, and light earthy notes. Flavor is malt forward with some supporting dark fruit esters and faint hops; dry, semi-sweet finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.
