Pint at Max’s in Baltimore. Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, creamy off white head. Nose is malty. Flavor is sweet, orange rind, crackers, yeasty, light wood, a little medicinal. Finish is full bodied, lightly dry.

Cask at GBBF. Copper brown, frothy head. Sharp fruity aroma, dark fruits nose. Vanilla with flavours of dark fruit lingering. Not bad.

Tap. Pours clear, nutty brown with average off-white head; decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is bourbon, brown sugar, cookie malt, figs, light oak, and earthy hops. Flavor is balanced malt and hops with some dark fruit esters; bourbon undertones with a dry, semi-sweet finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.

Not too sure on the style, but ChurchKey had it classified this way, so I’ll go with that. Poured a hazy chestnut brown. The nose had plenty of oak alongside some very sweet malt. Also there was toasted malt, caramel, toffee, and a bit of vanilla. Served on cask, so the mouthfeel was quite creamy and low in bubbles, as to be expected. High drinkability--this was the first beer I’d had from Pratt Street and I will definitely seek out more. Serving type: cask Reviewed on: 12-06-2009

Cask. Light bourbon oakiness; caramel and toffee, light dark fruits. Soft body with decent carbonation. Nice, but nothing special.

Cask @ DuClaw RAF 09, several samples, my fave at the fest. Thin creamy tan head, i do beleive this brew was the best carbontaed brew at the fest. Soft and spritely, silky on the palte with some woody prickleyness. Lightly hazy brown in color. Lots of lumber in the nose, gently fruity with notes of vanilla and caramel malts. Lucious wood flavors, vanilla and earthy flavors, leafy with a soft maltiness. Just a really nice brew, highly quaffable which is what i did.

20101011 This was actually a cask of Oak Aged 3 Lions Ale at Max’s. Woody and strong butterscotch. Soft palate with coating vanilla and lingering alcohol. Strong stuff, nicely done and I can deal with the diacetyl

Difficult to distinguish the aroma. Brownish color. Grapey, woody flavors. Notes: On Cask at the GBBF ’10

Growler (from cask). Dark brown, thin tan creamy head. Bold oak aromas warm to soft swirls of toasty vanilla, toffee, and hints of earthed citrus. Roasted brown toffee malt and vanilla wood flavors balance well on back end earthy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied, cask-like carbonation, dry wooden bittersweet finish. Great expansion on an already solid base beer. Should be considered for draft status more often...
