Although fermented with English yeast, this brew is bittered with Chinook and Cascade hops and finished by dry-hopping with Cascade hops.

appearance: clear light amber, creamy light beige head, average lacing. aroma: surprisingly malty nose, with graham cracker and pie crust, then some mango and grapefruit. taste: slightly sweet graham cracker malts, light caramel, then citrus, light floral, and some piney hops. finish: slightly slick and soapy, a little astringent. notes: Well-balanced for an IPA and not overly-hoppy. The finish was juuuust off enough to keep this from being downright excellent. Draft at Quench in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Pours a finger of head on a dark straw body. The aroma is grain and hay. The taste is grain, fruits, long grapefruit and apricot finish to a bitter pine end. The texture is crisp with a moderate carbonation. Nice.

7%ABV. American IPA. Came off the tap with a thin head of white soapy bubbles and a beautiful amber 16ºSRM. I was having a flight of beers on tap at the Pratt Street Ale House, and this one just called out to me to be tried FIRST. It’s just the perfect color. My favorite color actually. First impressions: this ale had a nice estery nose full of ripe citrus fruit. The first mouthful had a heavier mouthfeel, a little soapy. The palate was aromatic which you can briefly appreciate before being eclipsed by the aggressive bitter hop flavors. That brief aroma is reminiscent of the citra hop in dry-hopped ales, although this is made with the Cascade hop, the palate is citrus and pine-y. Aggressive hop bitterness. A proper american IPA! Goes on Favorites List.

Miss matched ingredients here. Pours orange with OK head and lacing on cask. Some sweet orange aroma. Quite a sweet finish for style, and consistency a little sticky. Cask at meridian pint.

Draft at Buffalo Wild Wings (Frederick, MD), served in a pint glass. Orangy-golden color with white head. Aroma of orange-grapefruit-citrusy hops, some pine, bready and faint caramel malt. Taste is fruity hop bitterness with some herbal funk note. Moderate carbonation, low-medium body, dry with lingering bitter finish. Reviews seem all over depending on how this is presented; carbonated at a chain restaurant it’s decent and refreshing.

Cask at Pizza Paradiso (Dupont). Pours orange with some head and no lacing. Notes of tangerine, maybe some apricot and some grassy hops. Medium bitterness and light sweet. Light body. Not bad.

On draft at Punk’s Backyard Grill in Annapolis. The beer is bright orange colored with a half inch of head that leaves ample lacing on the glass. Terrific balance here. Delicious bready malts mingle beautifully with floral hops. This beer tastes super fresh. Hops do stand out more than malt, as I prefer, but I would still say this beer strives for balance rather than being a hop bomb. Lingering floral & hop notes in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with a great feel. Recommended. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 01-18-2012
