Appearance: clear caramel brown, one finger of light, fizzy, tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma: light nose, with caramel, brown bread, and toffee. Taste: nutty, slightly sweet caramel malts, with earthy, mellow hops. Finish: smooth, slightly bitter. Notes: Easy drinking for a 7+% abv beer, with nice, slightly sweet and nutty malt flavors. Pretty good brown ale.

On tap. Hazy brown pour with light tan head. Light scent of malt and oak. Tastes malty with an English hop kick. Boring taste overall.

Tap. Pours clear brown with average, creamy beige head; good retention and some lacing. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, figs, dates, floral hops, and oranges. Flavor is sweet malt forward with a heavy dose of fruit and some light hops towards the finish for a touch of bitterness; dry finish. Light body and low carbonation.

20110305 tap at PSA. Hazy dark caramel color with lasting tan head of soft froth. Gorgeous, complex, rich stuff with a host of nut, cocoa, and dark yeasty bread flavors and aromas. Sturdy stuff. Damn nice winter warmer type thing.

Growler thanks to scraff. Poured a clear brown with decent head and nice retention. Aroma is buttery ganache, heavy milk chocolate and caramel. Taste is dry, sharp, nutty bitter. Some resiny/piny hops come into play. Palate is dry, bitter, neutral balance.

I wanted more from this beer. Pours a dark deep brown with a hint of red. The aroma is a little fruity. The flavor is a little fruity, syrupy, oaku/. I don’t really dig it.

Sweet toffee nose with some chocolate and brown sugar. Tate is lightly sweet, lots of toffee, some chocolate, a bit of butter and some dark fruit. Peppery finish. Solid.
