3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a reddish brown color with a off white head. Nice looking color for an old ale. Smells a bit sweet. I get a bit of brown sugar and malts. Taste has a bunch of sweetness with a sweet finish. A bit of hops mixed in there with maybe a smidge of wood flavor. Not too bad.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask - Dark copper, thin creamy khaki colored head. Dark fruit and vanilla aromas warm to swirls of musty oak and sherry. Soft brown sugared fig and black grape tones ride undercurrents of warming vanilla and wood. Lightly hopped backdrop for pure balance. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bittersweet finish. The wood adds a nice dimension...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask at the 2009 SPBW Real Ale Fest 10/17/09: Pours a transparent copper ruby with a thin airy ring of off-white head. Has a big oaky woody nose with a rich, sweet caramely maltiness and a hint of piny hops. Starts with average fullness and some toasty caramel toffee sweetness with lots of fresh oaky flavor and a mild bitter balance toward the finish. An enjoyable brew with good oak character, but could use more body.
