Draft - 7 % ABV. Dark reddish brown, creamy thin white head. Deep cherry-caramel and peaty earth-like aromas dominate throughout. Soft sweet toffee-smoke flavors balance well on touches of dark cherry and earth from beginning to end. Full bodied with soft carbonation. A great representation of the style...

Cask. Medium beige head atop clear copper body (one of the biggest heads I’ve seen from a cask). Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some raisin, light smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, some chocolate, light raisin, smoke. Medium body, some stickiness, easy drinking.

On tap at Max’s in Baltimore. Though I hate Scottish, Irish, Scotch Ales with a passion (mainly because they taste like a sugar bomb), I thoroughly enjoyed this and was very surprised. It doesn’t look so spectacular: clear deep amber with a thin off-white head...little patches of lace. And the aroma is weak toffee and Worcestershire sauce. But this thing is full with super rich toffee and caramel and some spices and English hops to back up the sweetness. Really yummy.

Copper color with a medium size head. Somewhat constrained nose that is a bit fruity but mostly toasted malt. Medium-bodied flavor in the mild, slightly bitter taste that is neither offensive or daring. A good session beer.
